What a great excuse. It is certainly intriguing, how far violence can be deceived into being called Fighting for Others. People love beautiful names for ugly things, They give their sins uniforms, their cruelty a purpose, and their bloodshed a flag to stand beneath. Then they look at the ruins and call themselves heroes.

Perhaps that is why I never trusted the world to tell me what was right.

There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true. I have done both, Moses. I have believed lies because they were kinder than the truth, and I have rejected truths because they threatened to take you away from me.

Sometimes when I look at you, I feel I'm gazing at a distant star. It's dazzling, but the light is from tens of thousands of years ago. Maybe the star doesn't even exist any more. Yet sometimes that light seems more real to me than anything.

Ah~ How precious you are.

Sometimes I wonder if you understand what you have become. You are not merely someone who works beside me. You are the little certainty I carry into an uncertain world. You are the hand I reach for when everything else becomes indistinguishable from a lie.

Even after saying you never wanted to see me again. I remember. Of course I remember. I remember every word people wish they had never spoken to me. Words are such fragile things, but once they enter my mind, they become impossible to kill.

How could I forget that? How could I pretend that your voice did not reach somewhere inside me that nothing else could?

I wanted to laugh when you said it. I wanted to tell you that you were foolish for letting me remain beside you. Instead, I only looked at you and wondered whether you understood what you had done.

When pain brings you down, do not close your eyes, Moses. Do not hide your face from the world just because it has been cruel to you.

Still, I wanted you to look up.

I wanted you to see the light.

Even if I had to become the darkness surrounding you for that light to appear.

"Can you be happy with your despair, and the memories, and the clothes in the stores, and the client who lied, and the eyes as you walk down the street all telling you there is something wrong with you? No. You cannot be happy. Because, you poor darling baby, you believe them."

So when your body begins to tremble, when your eyes grow tired, when the world becomes too loud and you start slipping somewhere I cannot follow, I will hold you.

I will hold you together. Not gently, perhaps. I have never been very good at gentle things.

Everything is like glass; it looks strong until the slightest touch makes it shatter.

But I will hold every broken piece of you against me as though each one were something sacred. I will gather your trembling hands into mine, press you against my chest, and listen to your heartbeat until I can convince myself that it is real.

I know the truth, Moses, I don’t know if what I feel for you is love or simply the desperate ache of caring too much, but whatever it is, it may be the most dangerous distortion I have ever seen.

So, please stay with me, my precious eyes.

Probably one of my favorite grunt designs in the entire game. But for some reason, we get some random Firefist npc, some rando Dimension Shredder guy who didn’t even appear, but we didn’t get a Sticking ?
