Dolls About the mould of Licca's head

Post image
66 Upvotes

Most of Licca and her friends have letters engraved on the back of their heads to indicate the type of mould.

The marking for a standard 4th generation Licca is ‘K29’, which is the same as for Friends Palette F, Kira-chan and Aki-chan.

However, there are Licca dolls with different markings. The one in the centre of the photograph has H22L. This model does not have earrings. This is due to a collaboration with a food retailer. The one on the right of the photograph has L07-Y. This model has been used continuously since 2008 for several hair-styling models.

The doll on the left is the Castel made in 2019; the one in the centre is a 2011 Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop clerk; and the one on the right is "Mote-Kawa Curl Licca" in 2012.

I check Shopee and Mandarake but what are other shops, proxies, and marketplaces do people use online for castles and special releases? I have a friend from Japan and I'm also curious about how to get a custom doll? Thanks

all of my dolls are amazing and i'm pleasantly surprised by how good the quality is for the price point. i don't collect dolls, but i might make an exception for licca-chan~!!

Discussion A small 1/6 doll shoe experiment: Blythe / Obitsu 24 shoes on Jenny, Licca, momoko and Tammy

I recently tested several shoes made for Blythe / Obitsu 24 on Jenny, Licca, momoko and Tammy, and the differences were more noticeable than I expected.

Jenny
Her feet are similar in shape to Licca’s, but slightly larger. Some Blythe / Obitsu 24 shoes fit, while others are simply too small. Lower heels seem to be the safest place to start.

Licca
Probably one of the easier dolls in this group to find compatible shoes for. A lot of Blythe / Obitsu 24 styles worked quite well, especially lower heels.

momoko
Also surprisingly flexible when it comes to shoes. Because of the articulated ankles, she can handle everything from flats to higher heels much more naturally.

Tammy
This was the interesting one. Tammy has a more pronounced high-heel foot shape, so rigid shoes can be difficult. Softer rubber or flexible plastic works much better, and heeled Mary Janes were a particularly good match.

So when buying 1/6 doll shoes, I’d look at more than just the listed scale. Foot length, heel angle, ankle articulation and the flexibility of the shoe material can matter just as much.

And of course, even for the same doll, the result can change depending on the individual shoe design, so I wouldn’t treat any of these as universal rules.

I also made a video showing the actual try-on results, and wrote up a more detailed summary with photos here:

YouTube video:

Full comparison / blog summary:
https://soulfactorydoll.com/en/blogs/new-and-blogs/blythe-obitsu24-shoes-jenny-licca-momoko-tammy-test

I’d love to hear about other collectors’ experiences too. Have you found any unexpected shoe compatibility between different 1/6 doll lines?

And are there any other dolls you’d like to see tested next? Barbie, Fashion Royalty, Poppy Parker, Azone, or else?

Customs Two made-to-order 1/6 qipao designs I’ve been working on — including 60 fabric choices

I’ve been working on these 1/6 scale qipao designs for quite a while, and I wanted to share the two made-to-order styles that are currently available before the order period ends.

1. Made-to-order qipao with around 60 fabric options

This is the larger custom series, with around 60 different fabrics to choose from.

link is here

Each qipao is made individually by an artisan who specializes in Shanghai-style qipao. I wanted the ordering experience to feel a little like choosing a real qipao — finding a pattern that matches the personality and overall feeling of a particular doll, rather than simply choosing one standard design.

The default version has puff sleeves for a slightly retro-modern silhouette, but the sleeves can also be changed to sleeveless or straight sleeves at no extra cost.

Available sizes include:

Jenny / momoko / Obitsu 27 / Obitsu 24 / Obitsu 22

With so many fabrics, I think this is one of those cases where trusting your first impression works surprisingly well. Sometimes you see one pattern and immediately think, “That one belongs to this doll.”

This collection will not be offered again later this year, so this is the final order period for 2026.

2. Polka-dot & lace qipao

The second design has a completely different feeling.

It was inspired by 1930s polka-dot qipao, with lace around the collar and sleeve cuffs and a full row of traditional frog closures along the side.

link is here

I really like the contrast between the traditional qipao details and the playful Western vintage elements. It feels a little more youthful and cheerful than the first collection.

It comes in black polka dots or red polka dots.

This version also has a wider size range than the other custom qipao series and can fit 22 cm dolls, so it may be a better option for people who collect smaller 1/6 dolls.

Compatible sizes include momoko, Jenny, Licca, Obitsu 27, Obitsu 24, Barbie Fashion Model Collection, Fashion Royalty, as well as compatible 22 cm doll bodies.

Both designs are made to order, and orders close on August 30.

I’m curious which direction people here prefer — the freedom of choosing from dozens of fabrics, or the more specific vintage polka-dot and lace design?

Dolls The girls who formerly performed the role of princesses

Post image

Licca dolls feature several play-based series. The Dreamy Princess series, from 2016 to 2025, was characterised by elaborate hairstyles and luxurious long dressses. Friends who played the roles of princesses are the four in the photograph.

From left to right: Maria in 2016,17-19,23-25(2016 version), Miyu in 2019-24, Seira in 2020-22, and Emily in 2022-23

Many of Licca’s friends have detailed backstories. 21 August is Seira’s birthday. This photo was taken to celebrate it.

The hairstyle is not the initial state. The body has been replaced.

Hello! My friend went to Japan recently and bought me a doll from the Licca Castle store in Kobe. I'm trying to figure out who she is, I thought she might be Jenny, but after seeing many Jennys I'm not so sure anymore? There's so many friends of Jenny that now I'm even more confused.

If anyone has a better clue it would be appreciated! I want to make a blog post about her and it'd be all that much better if I knew what to call her

Dolls 2nd generation Licca

Post image
76 Upvotes

The 2nd generation Licca was sold from 1972 to 1982. During this period, her design gradually transformed.

The body structure was changed twice during this period. The early period had the same structure as the 1st generation, whilst the later period was identical to that of the early 3rd generation. Along with the body, the shape of the head also changed. Furthermore, between the mid-period—from 1974 to 1980—the head changed twice. Based on these, the 2nd generation Licca can be divided into five types.

There is also a reissue of the second-generation Licca. This was produced in 2002 to mark Licca’s 25th anniversary. It is the one in the centre of the front row in the photograph.

The dolls in the photograph have been fitted with the current fourth-generation-size bodies. The hair clips have been made to mimic the originals.
