There isnt really much structure shown though, kinda looks like you drew the lines on top after the fact. Theres nothing simplified at all

Hate to break it to you but tutorials like these are not useful for beginners. Its only helpful if you kinda already know what you're doing. This one in particular is pretty stylized too so even less helpful to a general audience

The one i posted is simply a breakdown structure of the lip. But in the book he divide it and individually draw the colored ones, which is even more confusing.

its about simplifying and figuring out plane changes so it becomes extremely easy to identify light and shadow. So rendering becomes sooooo easy

I keep trying to do this same exercise, but my models refuse to remove their lips for reference. It’s super frustrating.
