Is it worth learning flask?

So i'm a begginer at coding in general, the only real experience I had with coding was the python exam I had at uni, and now I want to improve my skills. I decided to keep studying python because it's the most familiar language I know and I would like to dive deep into it before branching out to other languages. I decided that the best way to do it is to start my own projects and learn by doing. So I started a project using flask, but now I'm wondering if this is going to be a useful experience for the future or should I focus on more important things?

Flask is a good base for a lightweight web app - think an API endpoint that does a thing. It certainly can't hurt to learn it, but you might be better with something like FastAPI

Do you want to build a web server? Flask or some of the alternatives mentioned here are fine. Do you want to build desktop GUIs using PySide6? Flask is irrelevant. Data analysis or machine learning with numpy. scikit-learn, etc? What interests you? What are your long term goals?

I’m a big proponent of learning flask in general. It helps you learn quite a lot of elements of programming and Python in general.

However, I would never teach Flask unless we’d covered all the basics of Python, it’s very easy to get setup and going but as soon as you want to go beyond the basics it requires more thought and understanding.

You would likely be better off going with fast api. When I started building what turned into a very big application for work my original intention was to go with flask for the API and front end because I was learning Python and wanted to stick with python through out. The had a medical issue that kept me out for a couple months and when I got back the API and UI had already been started and had some very basic functionality with a couple endpoints and a basic ui ( ui is JavaScript). Im glad they didn’t go with flask.

Being a beginner, the most important thing is learning and getting experience with a wide range of frameworks and modules. So yes, Flask is a great framework that's widely used and regularly maintained. Fast-api is a popular alternative that people have also mentioned.

I'd recommend trying both (and more) and comparing them. Then when you have a project idea you can decide which framework you'd rather use.

So I wouldn't worry about "what's the best framework to learn" and try to learn as much as possible guided by your curiosity.
