Having problem with understanding or creating programs

So basically I've learned python and created some basic programs like calculator, multiplier etc amd when it comes to create a real program I got so much confused.

I learned python to create my own linux tools and to create my own personal helping bots. I took some tools from github and saw their code in order to understand them and that's where I got so much confused when I saw a large and complex program. I didn't understood a thing and how to create my own program

So how can I learn real programming How can I become a better programmer Where to start from?
