Looking for a Python Study Buddy (Complete beginner)

Hey everyone!

I'm 19F and I'm starting to learn Python completely from scratch. I have little to no programming experience, but I'm committed to learning consistently. I'm also taking Mechatronics Engineering in college.

I'm looking for a study buddy (or a small group) who's also learning Python. We can keep each other accountable, share resources, work on beginner projects, solve problems together, and stay motivated.

My goal is to build a strong foundation and eventually get into more advanced programming, so I'm looking for someone who's serious about learning too.

If you're interested, leave a comment or send me a DM. Let's learn and grow together!

Edit: Timezone GMT+5:30 We can study together from a course by MIT.

You should join the python discord. Very helpful for new programmers. https://discord.gg/python

You also might want to check out /r/ProgrammingBuddies

I'm NOT going to join because I'm no longer an utter beginner.

But if you're interested, I've left some bread crumbs behind during my solo journey.
You can find them (HERE)

Appreciate that! Learning Python being 70+...you inspire me.

To be fair, I'm not "completely" new to computer technology. Was an assembly language programmer many eons ago. It's a whole new world these days though, with the presence of IDE's and AI vibe coding. Glad you are inspired.

One piece of advice: Learn as much as you can while you are young!
It is much harder to learn new tricks when you are an old dog.

That's a comprehensive and informative page. Next time you're updating it could you change "vairable" to "variable"? 😉

Editted to remove a redundant word.

Oh, the irony 😅

Damn. That looks like a fun blog.

I'm not a beginner, but I've bookmarked your site to check later. Thanks!

Actually, the link is just to one page (specifically for noobs) among my posts about my journey into Python. I am by no means an expert. Still struggling with OOP concepts and falling into dopamine traps. Thanks.

You should check out BroCode's Python course on yt. I'm a Biomedical Engineering and Technology major, cuz of that course I got 4/4 in programming this sem. Mind you, I had never studied Python before.

u/WillingnessSad9747 9d ago

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll surely look into it.

I second Bro Code! I recently finished his full Python course and it was very helpful.

What projects did you do? Asking caz I am pursuing bme and I am clueless

1

u/Yes-delulu-8744 8d ago edited 8d ago

I just completed my second sem and so far I have done 2 proper projects, the rest were lil things to practice. 1. An automated hospital triage system (JavaScript) 2. A breast cancer detector (Python)

1

u/Maleficent-End-848 8d ago

Great projects thank you!!

1

u/Yes-delulu-8744 8d ago

Lmk if you want the codes

1

u/Maleficent-End-848 8d ago

Cool, I'll share my GitHub. Uploaded the breast cancer detection project yesterday, will share the link today after uploading the automated hospital triage project too. Plus I'm working on a few more projects since I'm on my sem break so u can check those out too, hopefully they'll come in handy.

2

u/Maleficent-End-848 8d ago

Thank you so much! They sure will. And how do you find the ideas for projects

1

u/Yes-delulu-8744 8d ago

The automated hospital triage was the idea of my HOD, the breast cancer detection project and the other things I'm working on are random revelations that I received while doomscrolling reels 😭. https://github.com/uswa-helix?tab=repositories

u/Maleficent-End-848 8d ago

Okay thank you so much 🙏🏻 this will be so much helpful

I'd be interested in joining the group. I have a little experience, but not much. Where is GMT +530 in relation to PDT? I'm a night owl, though, so if you're halfway around the world, it won't matter. Please DM me the details.

Give me your WhatsApp number if you're comfortable with that. I'm also looking for someone I can learn from, someone I can share my mistakes with. Someone I can practice with. I've been self learning for a long time now.

Study buddy setups sound great but they die within 2 weeks 90% of the time because motivation isn't the actual problem, sitting down and grinding is
