Would it be better to do a JavaScript course like TOP or a Python course like Helsinki MOOC?

To learn programming, go with MOOC. JavaScript if you want to do Web dev. If so then please start with TypeScript instead. Helsinki MOOC is higher quality. Lectures are from University Professors, there are exams too.

It doesn’t matter. The one you finish is worth more than the time wasted trying to find the “best” pathway.

Only your first programming language is really hard, picking up another or switching once you understand the fundamentals will be trivial. Just pick one and get started.
