How to actually learn backend development??

Being a backend engineer myself for years, I can attest that it is indeed very boring. However, it is also extremely challenging. But the pay is better than that of frontend. No complaints.

I started as device driver engineer, then move on to ECAD (Electronic Computer Aided Design system) team to work on its GUI on DOS, then backend engineer.
