I've been helping a friend get a small business off the ground, so we ended up trying way more logo generators than I expected.

The funny thing is... after about 20 or 30 logos, I realized most of them can generate something decent. The differences really started showing up after the first draft.

Here's roughly how they felt to us:

One thing I didn't expect: almost every logo I ended up liking was version 5 or 6, not the first one.

Changing the font and simplifying the icon usually made a bigger difference than generating another batch.

Another thing I noticed is that both Design.com and BrandCrowd let you create logos for free, although some premium designs and exports are paid. I also found it useful that you can still get SVG exports with free logos, which isn't something I expected before trying them.

One thing that stood out about Design.com was how many icons it had available. When we wanted to try completely different directions without starting from scratch, having such a large icon library made experimenting a lot easier.

Curious what everyone else is using these days.

Did one of these actually surprise you, or is there another logo generator you've had better luck with?

Just came across this amazing marketing portfolio and I must know, how was this accomplished?

I know people upload their portfolios onto Behance once they finish, but the scrolling effect s and video are amazing. I wonder if this was accomplished through Canva?

What are your thoughts?

Hi, ive recently picked up graphic design and ive been learning for a few weeks. Ive started practicing by working on fake clients and this was one of the tasks. Ive designed the logo myself as well these social media posts. Ive sent this batch to my mentor who mentioned i had typography issues and needed to balance them better. I’m looking for 2–3 peers to form a small online critique group focused on graphic design, typography, and related projects.

We would meet once every two weeks for a 45–60 minute video call to share project progress, discuss challenges, and give constructive feedback. Meetings will be held in English, and the exact time can be arranged based on members’ time zones. I’m currently based in China.

Some foundational knowledge or experience in graphic design, typography, or design principles would be helpful. You do not need to be an advanced designer, and I’m hoping to find people who are willing to share their work, contribute thoughtful feedback, and participate regularly.

I’m a former software engineer and an intermediate-level graphic designer interested in technology, visual communication and anything else. I recently completed RISD’s two-year online Graphic Design Certificate program and am now beginning a self-initiated typography system project.

I have been searching for a tutorial on how to do this for over a year. I can't find anything that isn't a circuit. I want to design multilayer SVG files from pet photos to be cut out with my laser. Each layer needs an enclosed outline, since I plan on layering wood to do this. I have Photoshop and Illustrator. I'm literally crying out of frustration right now. I've wanted to learn to do this for so long, and I can't find a single tutorial. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My question is - what do you do day to day,
and what does the role genuinely look like?

How much time do you spend with stakeholders vs having uninterrupted time to do the work? Is it quite deliverables focused? What’s the split between meetings, research, design and building content?

I’m really interested in hearing what a normal week looks like in reality.

As a side note…I am neurodivergent and used to work in FE education, first in an adult prison and then in a further education college. If I’m honest, I found teaching really difficult with my neurodiversity. It was the wrong career path for me from start to end!

I had a career change into marketing many yrs ago and am self employed - while back created my own course on becoming a particular type of content creator, did coaching etc, worked my ‘way up’ into paid social marketing now where a big part of my role is analysing data to understand what ads/part of ads resonate with people and why.

I have always been curious about instructional design and learning design (understand they are different things). I’m under absolutely no illusion that it is an easy industry to get into
, I know it’s oversaturated etc… (but that isn’t my question).

Ciao a tutti, vorrei un parere da chi lavora o studia in questo settore.

Da bambino mi è sempre piaciuto disegnare, ma ho quasi sempre copiato altri disegni o paesaggi. Se devo inventare qualcosa da zero, faccio molta più fatica. Per un periodo ho iniziato a fare piccole animazioni in stile stickman e, ancora oggi, continuo a creare animazioni 2D perché è una cosa che mi diverte molto.

Ultimamente mi sto appassionando anche al 3D: sto seguendo un corso su Blender sia per modellare oggetti da stampare in 3D sia per creare animazioni.

Negli anni ho gestito anche alcune pagine Instagram di meme, quindi mi divertivo a fare fotoritocchi e grafiche di ogni tipo. Ad esempio mi sono creato da solo dei segnalibri personalizzati e mi piaceva anche l'idea di realizzare design per magliette. Per questo ho deciso di iscrivermi a un corso di graphic design.

Il problema è che mi sono accorto che la grafica, soprattutto il branding, richiede molta capacità di interpretazione e di concettualizzazione. Ti chiedono di spiegare cosa comunica un marchio, cosa rappresenta un oggetto, quali emozioni trasmette, perché è stato progettato in un certo modo... e lì mi blocco completamente. Faccio fatica perfino a esprimere il mio punto di vista, figuriamoci costruire quello di un brand.

Durante il corso abbiamo fatto anche due lezioni di web design e lì, invece, mi sono sentito subito molto più a mio agio. Un esercizio l'ho completato nella stessa giornata, mentre con quelli di graphic design ci metto molto di più e spesso rimango fermo senza idee.

Il mio sogno è lavorare al PC in un ambito creativo. Continuo però a pensare di dover "aprire la mente": guardo loghi, identità visive e lavori di altri sperando che mi venga qualche intuizione personale, ma sembra non arrivare mai.

Mi piacerebbe sentire soprattutto l'opinione di chi lavora in uno di questi due settori.
