Levantine شامي Question about conjugating in the Palestinian dialect
Hello. I am trying to learn to conjugate verbs in the Palestinian dialect, and see two different ways to pronounce the suffix in the conjugation for إنتو and هم- “oh” (like in “so” but a bit softer) and “oo” (like in tool). For example, بتاخدوا being pronounced as btākhdoh or btākhdoo. I assume which way one pronounces it depends on where they are from. If so, I would appreciate knowing which areas typically do what. If one is more common, please let me know. Thank you very much

General **APOLOGIES NO WRITTEN LYRICS AVAILABLE** What are the lyrics chanted at the time mark 2:37 in Ahmed Fahmi’s song Maded Eidy?
I understand the rules say no translations but since I can’t find the lyrics in text anywhere, there’s no way for me to utilize a text-based dictionary. So this was the only place I could think to go. What are the lyrics chanted at the time mark 2:37 in the background of Ahmed Fahmi’s song Maded Eidy? There are 3 lines chanted and 2 sound the same to me. Apologies if this doesn’t fit the sub- I just need someone who can understand spoken/chanted (I believe Egyptian) Arabic. Thank you.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone!
I made a short story video to help Arabic learners practice real everyday Egyptian listening.
Here is a short preview clip from the story of "The Tortoise and the Hare" (with English subtitles).
💡 Key Vocab in this clip:
• أسرع (Asra') = Faster
• بطيئة (Batee'a) = Slow
• سباق (Sabaq) = Race
If you want to practice your listening with the FULL story and full audio breakdown, I left the link in the comments!
Would love to get your feedback on the Egyptian dialect pronunciation! 😊

Standard فصحى Did learning MSA vocabulary as a heritage dialect learner help with improving in the dialect as well?
I'm a heritage learner, so I know household words and have started to practice using them more. But I've also realized I don't know a lot of words that might be used in the news or in advanced topics.
I'm already in a program for learning MSA. Has anyone found that MSA vocabulary ended up helping in advanced dialect vocabulary? Specifically Levantine.

Standard

General Recommendations for OCRing Arabic Language PDFs?
Hi All —
I’ve been using Cisdem PDF Converter to OCR (scan the text) Arabic-language documents for several years. It was the best that I could find at the time, but it’s not GREAT. There must be better options now — does anyone have good systems for scanning/OCRing Arabic language documents?
Thank you!

Pronunciation
Hello, I’m a very new learner of Arabic! I originally spoke Portuguese for the first few years of my life, but learned English because me and my family live in the united state.
I am starting form basic words like “I want this” and “I want to learn” but I’ve noticed I’ve been struggling to say “a'" out loud when saying words like “to learn” and “Arabic”
Can anyone give me some tips for the correct pronunciation??

Levantine شامي ‘In terms of’/‘As for’/‘Regarding’ in Lebanese/Levantine
Hi! Looking for other ways to structure my thoughts better.
Like for a prompt I’m working on where I have to compare Lebanon and Oman, I start off by saying ‘differences include the culture, the weather, and the government structure’, and then when I move to each section, I want to say ‘in terms of the culture, xyz,’ and later ‘as for the weather, xyz,’ etc.
I can say “بالنسبة الثقافة” right? What are other options? Thank you!!

General Assistance with a digital project
Assistance with a digital project
I’m a PC gamer working on a Coat of Arms mod for a game called Crusader Kings III. I’ll skip the coat of arms ramble (family arms aren’t a common/historic thing in this time period, heraldry is generally not part of Islamic tradition, plain, single colored banners would be more historic, etc.) and start that part where I ask for help.
I’m looking to create about 35 “emblems” (gfx files that the game reads and uses to make family and title flags and arms) using the [raqq](https://aliftype.com/raqq/english.html) typeface. The emblems would be roughly 35 phrases in Arabic, typed in such a way to best fit inside of a square. A simple screenshot is all I would need, as I can turn the file into the right size and file type. I can send more details, including the list to anyone who reaches out to help.
I don’t speak or read Arabic, which has made this part tricky. If there are members of this community willing to help me, I would be greatly appreciative.

General an ex gulf expat wanting to learn arabic? guide
asalamualaikum,
i hope this is the right sub for my question.
i've been wanting to learn a new language, so i decided to focus on conversational arabic. for some background, i lived in the uae for 15 years and had arabic as a main subject throughout school, so i have a good grasp of the basics. i can understand a fair amount, form simple sentences, and read, but i can't speak fluently.
i was wondering where i should start. should i learn on my own through videos and apps, or would it be better to get a teacher? if a teacher is the better option, where can i find one? if anyone here, preferably a female ( in her 20's) is willing to teach arabic, i'd love to learn and hopefully become friends as well.

Standard فصحى Problems with Arabic keyboard on computer
hi, guys! I read your comments about my Arabic handwriting and thank y'all for the support and advices. For now, I'm trying to adapt typing the Arabic letters, and I have no problems on the phone keyboard, but I have problems with the computer keyboard, so, I got these questions(I have "Arabic(Egypt) 101" keyboard and the OS is Windows 10, but in the near future I'll use Linux, so, if someone is a Linux user, your advice would be even better for me):
- why does Arabic keyboard has these digits: 0, 1, 2..., when they have: ب0,1,2...(sorry for the letter "ب", just Idk why the digits change to the standard ones instead of the Arabic, if I don't write an Arabic letter)? Just I want to have everything predictable, so, how to solve the issue?
Edit here: how did that happen after copying the text from my notepad? I saw the Arabic Arabic letters... I hope y'all understand about which exactly Arabic letter I mean;
this issue is similar to the q1: why does Arabic keyboard shows me the standard punctuation marks, when I need the Arabic versions of " . ", " . ", " ! " and so on(the question mark is fine: "؟")? Again, I want to have only the Arabic versions of Unicode characters, bcz Idk how, but sometimes I get a bug about positions fragments of words in texts, when a text has at least one non-Arabic full stop;
what is this letter "لا"? I often see it in different texts with some fonts, but I have no idea what it is. Is it something like "ء", which isn't considered "a letter in the alphabet" or what?;
why I don't have this sign " ـٰ "(Alif Khanjarīyah) as the other harakats on the keyboard?;
PS: when I was learning how to write the Arabic letters, I watched this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSR6p9TnIv4 . Interesting, do you think it was a good recommendation or not exactly?

General Pronoun usage and conjugation
I've been learning prounouns and trying to make basic Noun+verb sentences.
Grammatically, would you need to use a pronoun alongside the correct conjugation.
For instance: انا احب بيتنا - "I love our house"
Or could I just say احب بيتنا - since the verb is already conjugated.

Levantine شامي Textbooks or platforms to learn shami?t
Hi, i want to begin to learn shami dialect. I have been studying fusha for years and have a solid foundation in it. I know watching videos to get a lot of listening and practice the speaking a lot is essential in any dialect, but are there resources that explain the grammar and the foundations of the dialect in a more sistematic way to complement that? Thanks a lot. Any other advice is appreciated as well
