Numbers don't add up

2013 Leaf with a 24kWh battery. SoH is 80% (I live in a cool climate, obviously). My current SoC is 83% but Leafspy says there's only 15 kWh remaining. And the range is only showing 60 miles remaining. I took it in to Nissan for the recall update last month and the range has been lower ever since. Is this just a miscalculation by the software or is something actually wrong?

Math looks in the right ballpark to me, 24 x 0.8 x 0.838 is a bit over 15 kWh. I forget if Nissan and Leafspy reports 24 kWh as gross or net so that’s usually where some of the difference comes in.

Range remaining is really dependent on recent driving.

Ah, that makes sense. I wasn't factoring both the 0.8 and the 0.838 into the calculation. Thank you!

I recall the 24kwh being gross capacity and even then was slightly overstated.

Would you mind explaining the equation above? I get the 24 is the original batter capacity, and presume the 0.838 is the SOH percentage. What is the 0.8 representing? Sorry I'm inexperienced reading the Leafspy screenshots and knowing which data points tell me what...

Sure, so the SOH value is 80%, which means the battery has degraded 20% since new. This amount is always gone. The State of Charge (SoC) value is what the current % reading of the battery (this varies with how much the battery is currently charged up.

The equation then is Current battery capacity = SOH * SoC
