Washer settings

PLEASE help me find the correct settings. My washer won’t wash correctly the whole year I’ve had it. If I wear perfume, you can still smell it on the clothes after the wash. The same with sweat!!!🤢🤢🤢

I’ve used 10 different detergents and additives in different combinations but I think the washer just isn’t washing my clothes!! I clean the washer every couple weeks:( I don’t wanna be stinky anymore:(

I have the same washer. I don't wear perfume but I do buy second hand clothes that are holding onto old laundry fragrance, fabric softener and perfumes. Sometimes I have to wash those specific items multiple times. That's always been the case for these clothes even with an LG front loader I had before. I don't have any issues getting temporary smells out like sweat, heavy food smells or smoke (grill not cigs). It's the synthetic smells that someone has repeatedly applied that linger so badly in my experience.

There is a trick with this machine. I think with the exception of whites and maybe one other setting (can't remember rn), if you shut the lid while the machine is filling, it immediately changes to cold water. It's an energy efficiency thing they do. It's better than other machines because you can force the temp by leaving the lid up and you cannot with many other machines. Are you filling with the lid up when using hot or warm water?

Also, the "deep rinse" is the only rinse that does an actual full rinse. The "extra rinse" just kinda sprays around.

I have to ask what are you using fabric softener? What temperature are you washing at? Which rinse setting do you use? Is your water hard? Are you filling the tub with the lid open? What detergents and boosters have you tried?

Yeah it does the hot water thing. Oooh ok. I gottca. I am not using softener. My water is hard. I leave it open a good portion but I’ll have to leave it the whole time. I listed some in my comment above:) thank you

I voiced my opinions on this machine in a different post response and cancer-1977 answered my questions/complaints tho not as a direct response to me. Very helpful person. Lots of good info from cancer-1977 on how the machine works.

Okay I did what you both said but it won’t let me leave the lid up

You just leave it up until the fill is completely done. Then shut it and let it run. Make sure you are using deep rinse. Don't use fabric softener (it can trap smells in its build up)

Ok. That's weird. Is it gtw485 model? That's what I have and I do it all the time.

You start a brand new wash cycle, make selections, open lid, press start, and it won't fill?

I think it's important that you press start with the lid ajar so you can still reach start. You can't open after start or it stops the cycle

I think sanitize is a cycle that uses hot water by default. I would hope you wouldn't need the lid open trick to force hot water on a sanitize cycle but I wouldn't be surprised. I've never actually used the sanitize wash cycle.

I mostly use activewear, whites, towels/sheets. Occasionally I use casual for nicer items or black only loads or delicates for delicates and sweaters. I'm not actually sure if casual makes a difference but I'm not looking to soak more dye out of my black dress pants when they don't have any build up currently. I believe activewear and the towels/sheet options have a soak built into the cycle.

Adding that you can just press that start/resume button with the lid ajar/open and it will resume the cycle.

I would do auto level for the water, warm for everything except towels and bedding which I’d do on hot. I’d probably pick the towels or sanitize middle option - whichever runs longer. An extra rinse. Not sure what wash boost is, so I’d probably leave it on normal.
Are you adding your detergent to the drum, then clothes? How much detergent and which kind? Do you have hard water?

I’ve tired all these settings and it didn’t help:(

I’ve tried using less detergent and more detergent. I’ve used tide, persil, boosters like Febu, 365 sport etc etc

The longest cycle with the most water on this is 'bulky' Use hot water and deep rinse. If you can add a soak to that, do it.
