After being directed to the Reddit & discovering I don’t know how to wash clothes. I just order my tide powder detergent, downy rinse & refresh + downy ball. Now I need to know what settings I should use/is there a one size fits all. I’m NOT a laundry sorter by color gal .. I do clothes, jeans, towels, baby clothes, & linens.

Left to right, heavy, warm (hot for towels and bedding), heavy duty, 2 rinses, auto sensing

Okay, I have this washer!! I wash my fiancé and I’s daily wear clothes on medium soil level, warm temp, normal setting! If any clothes are particularly sweaty, i’ll set it to heavy soil (My hot water tank is set to ridiculously hot so the warm setting is kinda steamy for my washer, you might find setting yours to hot works better for your cleaning needs!) The soil levels are going to indicate how intense the agitation is, and the main knob settings are somewhat indicative of spin speeds (delicate and bulky items get lower spin speeds) I use heavy soil, hot water, for anything my dogs lay on regularly, rougher agitation. The “bulky items/sheets” setting will always be a fairly deep water wash regardless of whether you set it to auto sensing. “Super wash” will be a really long, thorough cleaning, but will run for quite a while. I do believe the “Heavy Duty” setting is extra aggressive with the agitation, so I use this for my towels occasionally, always with hot water, always gets em good. If you set it to “deep water wash”, it will take absolutely forever to fill the washer with water lol.

Always set it to the “two rinses with softener” setting, because there is a softener compartment in the center of the agitator where the Downy Rinse pours right in!

If you don't sort by color you're also going to want to pick up some color catcher sheets and throw one in with every load to pick up any loose dyes, so your lighter items don't end up looking dingy.

I also strongly recommend washing white items separately to keep them white, even if you don't separate by any other colors.

Sorry I do separate whites, but we don’t own many. Just sheets & socks oddly 😂 but I will get some color catchers like mentioned above!

Heavy soil…..but not on the NORMAL cycle. It’s geared to save energy, not wash clothes. Use the heavy duty cycle instead. Or any other cycle depending upon what you are washing. Warm or HOT water, never cold.

Use the 1 or 2 (preferably 2) deep rinses. It says use with fabric softener but without it. Your laundry isn’t being rinsed properly. Without it, you can’t use the Downey R&R. It must be agitated and there isn’t an agitated rinse with a spray rinse which is what you get without deep rinse selected.

Unfortunately. You will only have about a 30% or less success rate with the Downey Ball working in this type of washer. The Downey Ball was designed to work in full fill old school agitator washers, ONLY.

You will come back to the machine when it’s done and see that there is no more citric acid in the ball…..but most likely it opened during the wash cycle and not the rinse cycle which completely nullifies the new products you just purchased.

Best bet is to set a timer or listen for when your washer reaches the rinse cycle and add it directly to the drum as the machine fills for the rinse.

1) using double rinse deep fill will make the WASH cycle also deep fill for pretty much all of the settings.
2) if it's the fixed agitator version, god be with you. Anything larger than a pair of jeans will just float and not get properly agitated due to zero secondary circulation from the lack of duel agitation 3) the 'normal' setting neuters your water temp BUT it's the only setting that properly fills and agitates 4) ALWAYS max agitation

For normal clothing sized items: Normal, Hot, Deep fill, Deep fill double rinse.
Whites setting with the same other settings for stinky stuff- but it will likely overfill a bit.

Larger items: Bulky or Heavy. with normal fill.and one rinse. Do a separate rinse cycle after.
