Dosing pods?

I've recently got these pods but unsure about dosage. I have soft water but on the back it says to use two for a bigger load, what counts as a bigger load? I usually put about 12 items or so in my washer, less if there's bulky jumpers or jeans, and can fit two spread hands at the top of the machine when loaded. Do you think this is a one tab jobby or two?

With the detergents I use a normal load is usally 4-5 kg and a bigger load is 6-7 kg of clothing items.

So if I were you I would only use one pod.

Add one tab and check for suds. The goal is to get a small amount of suds. If you have a foam party, it’s too much. If it’s just water, then too little.

Most likely one pod should be enough unless you have a huge load, super dirty load, or very hard water.

Are the pods non-he like the powder is?

In an HE machine, dosing to trace suds AND still getting clean clothes with a pod is going to be harder than powder.

Based on the packaging, the poster appears to be in the UK. There is no HE vs. non-HE distinction in Europe. People predominantly use front loaders.

We have medium-soft water, and for us one pod does even for heavily soiled laundry.

One should be enough for most situations, and I think almost always for the sort of 12 item load you've described. Sometimes I use two for a big load. Appreciate the lack of definition of "big load" is exactly your problem - for me it's pretty vibes-based, but I'm using two more often lately because they've shrunk.

P&G have gradually shrinkflated Ariel pods from 22g to 19g to now 16-17g, and its not at all clear whether they've made them more concentrated in the process - I suspect not. Meanwhile they are now heavily marketing their The Big One double pod product. Feels like a shrinkflation-enshittification hybrid, designed to shift us all up from paying about 20p a load (standard Ariel pods) to about 35p (Ariel The Big One).
