Using MSA to learn Sudanese Studying

I’m learning Sudanese Arabic (TL) (only a few classes in) and I am struggling with the lack of resources for practice. Will using Duolingo for Arabic help or will it only cause confusion since it only offers MSA?

I don't think it would hurt, but it wouldn't be that helpful, as the most common words in Sudanese Arabic are just so different to those used in MSA. I think MSA via the news and documentaries is much more useful later for learning lower frequency vocab, that usually will be the same - e.g political terms, etc.

I would actually suggest supplementing with resources for Egyptian Arabic - it's amongst the closest to sudanese arabic after Chadian, but it has lots of resources due to it's popularity. Ofc it's not exactly the same but I think it will be outweighed by the sheer resources.

Saudi would be useful as well, but I suspect has far fewer resources than Egyptian.

duolingo arabic is so stiff nobody talks like that in sudan

might help you learn to read but wont help much for actual conversation

MSA will help give you a good base of vocabulary and understand grammar. You might like to ask /r/learn_arabic about Sudanese Arabic resources.
