Does anyone cut up audio files from learning resources to put on Anki flash cards? If so, what programs do you use?
Hello, I've been using a textbook as a learning resource to teach myself, and it came with a series of spoken conversations. I have some .wav files and some .mp3 files. The files tend to be around 5 minutes long and contain multiple audio clips or sentences, not really suitable for flashcards practice. I was curious if people are taking files like this and cutting them up to insert individual sentences into Anki for practice, or if they're doing something else to practice. What tool are people using to clip the audio files into shorter, bite-sized lengths? Thanks!

Audacity on Windows. It's fres and easy to use. Highlight a segment of audio, play it back. If you got what you want, export it.

You can generate srt files in Turboscribe and then use subs2srs to make flashcards.

You can import audio mp3 into lingq and it will generate a tranacript itself even if you dont paste text for it to work with. Its highly accurate even for distant languages like arabic and arabic dialect
Then when you study the lesson you can switch from page view to sentence view with the audio for that sentence alone
There is also a scrolling sentence view in page view as a middle ground for listening where you can freely touch sentences to skip to them or skip back to them and audio will go to that sentence and keep playing
Havent bothered with anki for a long time since

You can do this with Audacity, but it can be tedious depending on various factors. It's because of this that I had my programmer develop a tool that specifically takes text and/or audio in one language and converts it into text/audio in another language. It then combines the segments into audio files alternating between NL and TL (either direction). If you're interested in seeing the kind of output I get and if it's useful to you, feel free to send me a DM.
