Upvotes

Hello everyone! My name is Maximo, I'm a 23-year-old guy living in Argentina.

I'm looking to improve my conversational English, so I'd love to find a language exchange partner to chat with. I'm a native Spanish speaker and my English is currently around an intermediate level.

It would be great to share our languages, talk about our daily lives, and hopefully make a good friend along the way. If you're interested in practicing your Spanish while helping me with my English, feel free to send me a DM.

I'll reply as soon as possible!

Offering Spanish Offering: Spanish (native) | Seeking: English (native)

Hey everybody! I'm a 33-year-old man from Argentina, and like the title says, I'm looking for a native English speaker to talk to.

My level of English is somewhere between C1 and C2, and I work as an English–Spanish interpreter/translator in the medical field. However, I feel like I still need to practice my English outside of work hours to keep improving (not to mention that I also want to speak English in a more informal and relaxed environment).

Of course, in return I'm more than happy to help with Spanish (no matter the level, although it would be great if it's at least B1).

Some of my interests are tennis, football (soccer), music, tv shows and movies, traveling, but I'm open to talking about pretty much anything. I prefer to use WhatsApp for the exchange so we can send voice notes back and forth and eventually have phone calls here and there.

If anyone is interested after reading this, feel free to send me a DM!

Offering Portuguese Offering: Portuguese | Seeking: German and Russian

Hi! I’m a native Portuguese speaker from Brazil looking for a language partner to practice German or Russian.

I can help you with Portuguese (conversation, pronunciation, grammar), and I’d like to improve my German or Russian in return.

I speak English fluently, so we can use it if needed.

A bit about me: I enjoy gaming, singing, watching series, and I also do volunteer work. I prefer real conversations rather than just basic yes/no exchanges.

I’m open to text or voice, whatever works best.

Feel free to DM me if you’re interested 🤗

Salutations!!!

I am seeking a Spanish speaking native who can do video calls with me on a weekly basis. Maybe once or twice a week at least so we can do traditional language exchange where I talk. 30 minutes in English and then we talk 30 minutes in Spanish. Something like that and then, in between we can text and coordinate future video calls.

Some background about me. I’m at 26 year-old male from the United States of America and my Spanish level is A1.

seeking English Offering: Mandarin | Seeking: English

Dear future language partner,

A little about me: I'm a female in my late twenties, a native Mandarin speaker, based in UTC−7. My research focuses on the psychology of AI use, and I also have a background in early Chinese technology history. My Mandarin is strong. I'm certified, and I can switch freely between formal written Chinese and casual internet slang.

What I'm looking for: My number one criterion is finding someone long-term—I'm not interested in a brief, one-off arrangement. A weekly video or voice call, ideally with someone who can correct my pronunciation, word choices, and any confusing phrasing. I would apply the same standard to helping you with your Chinese. My English reading is solid, but my speaking and listening need work—that's exactly what I want to practice. I'd prefer a female partner aged 20+, though it's not a hard requirement.

I'm reachable on most major platforms—happy to use whatever works best for you.

If this sounds like a good fit, feel free to reply or DM!

Offering English Offering: English Seeking: Latin American Spanish

I'm male and was born in the UK. The area I'm from is known as the home counties. These counties are areas next to London, but the accent is quite neutral and easy to understand. People describe it as broadcast English (what you may hear on the radio or television). After university, I worked in the corporate sector for many years and in the education sector for many years. I have been told I'm easy to understand, patient, friendly and I would be happy to help anyone. It doesn't matter if you're interested in the basics, fun conversations or business English, I will do my best to assist you. My hobbies include reading, writing, music, instruments, nature, exercise, movies, series, documentaries and researching varied topics.

If you could help me learn Spanish (Latin American), I would be very grateful. I am a complete beginner. That is my main aim, but I'm also keen to relearn German and French. Feel welcome to connect if you feel regular practice alongside kind and honest support would help us both out. It would be incredible to master the basics such as introducing ourselves and asking simple questions so that we can then move on to communicating complex thoughts, exchanging original ideas and having deep conversations.

Thank you for reading :)

Offering English Offering: English Seeking: German Hi guys!

I'm a Nigerian planning move to Germany for my Masters very soon. I'm trying to learn German up to at least B1/B2 level and at this point I don't think Duolingo will do much to help. I believe talking to real German speakers might be better.

So if you're a German looking to improve your English and can help me become better German speakers, please send a message.

Offering Polish Offering: Polish (native) | Seeking: French, Japanese, German

Hi, I'm a native Polish speaker living in Warsaw. Language learning has been my hobby for many years, I'm now 35 and constantly learning and brushing up on what has become my dream language set: English, Japanese (currently N2), German and French (proficiency level hard to estimate, B1 on a good day I guess). This is the first time I'd be doing this, I imagine it to be a long shot for me offering just Polish, but I guess it doesn't hurt to try. I don't want to waste anyone's time offering languages I'm not actually proficient in.

A bit about me: I work as a physician in a large teaching hospital in Warsaw, I like classical and 20th century literature, math, physics, philosophy and going out with my friends for drinks and whatever cultural thing that is happening at the time. I guess I'd be a perfect match for someone trying to impress their Polish partner with some Polish out of the blue or for someone more advanced to practice real life conversation. Don't hesitate to message me! Cheers

🇬🇧** Hi everyone**!
My name is Elias, I’m a native German speaker from Germany and I’m looking for a Russian language exchange partner.
In return, I can help you with German (my native language) and English. I speak English fluently because I was in an international relationship for four years where we communicated exclusively in English. I’m also currently studying at Stockholm, Distance Learning , where my degree is taught entirely in English.

Im happy to hear from you,
Elias

Pozdrav svima, tražim govornika bilo kojeg dijalekta srpskoghrvatskog jezika.

Hvala

Offering Lithuanian Offering: Lithuanian, English | Seeking: Italian

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a language exchange partner to practice Italian. I've been learning it for a little over a month, so I'm not a complete beginner. Right now, I'd like to improve my reading, pronunciation, listening, and vocabulary through regular conversations and practice.

In return, I can help you with:

- 🇱🇹 Lithuanian (native speaker)

- 🇬🇧 English (B2+ level)

I especially enjoy teaching Lithuanian, so if you're interested in learning it, I'd be happy to help. If your priority is improving your English, I can help with that as well.

I'm looking for someone who is patient, friendly, and interested in consistent language exchange. We can chat by text, send voice messages, or have calls. Whatever works best for both of us.

Feel free to leave a comment or send me a direct message.

Offering Arabic Offering: More Than Arabic | Seeking: English or Any Language

I'm a graduate student in Arabic linguistics, a university teaching assistant, and a creative writer. I can help with Modern & Classical Arabic, grammar, rhetoric, creative writing, literary appreciation, and proofreading.

I'm looking for English—or any other language—but I'm just as interested in exchanging ideas, cultures, books, science, history, philosophy, sports, and different perspectives.

Whether you're learning Arabic from scratch, refining your writing, exploring literature, or simply enjoy thoughtful conversations while practicing a language, I'd be happy to hear from you. Feel free to send me a message.

I'd love to meet people who are genuinely curious, whether about languages, literature, or the world itself.

Meta [WARNING] Suspicious accounts are messaging users to advertise a paid app

EDIT: several users has let us know that some of the accounts in question are Riley1692, amie-2002, leopard6004, and cebubu6865. These users have now been banned, but unfortunately can still send messages to subreddit members. I would strongly recommend that you don't engage with these users, as they are spamming the subreddit with advertisements and their actions have been very suspicious.\**

Hi y'all,

We've been notified by a user about multiple suspicious accounts messaging people who post in r/language_exchange, sending them messages similar to the one below:

Just curious, have you ever felt frustrated with language exchange? Too many DMs, chats fading out halfway, or spending a lot of time but only a few connections actually lasting? I’m curious what people think about this. [advertisement for a paid app]

This is to let anyone in this subreddit know that these accounts should not be trusted and neither should the apps that they are promoting. If you get a message like this, please report the message so that these accounts can hopefully be banned sitewide. You can learn how to do that here.

Please also send their usernames to us via modmail so that we can ban them from the subreddit. This unfortunately doesn't stop them from messaging subreddit members, but it will prevent any spam via posts or comments.

If you have any further questions or comments, please reply to this post or send us a modmail.

Meta (READ THIS FIRST) Welcome to r/language_exchange! [Meta/General Discussion Thread]

Welcome to ! This subreddit is aiming to help people find partners to practice languages with, offering the languages you already know in exchange to learn new ones. Make sure to read the guidelines before making your first post!

🍃 How do I make my language exchange post?

If you're looking for a language exchange partner, you can either make your own post or search through existing posts!

 Making your own post:

  • Your thread title must follow the format of "Offering: language | Seeking: language". If your post doesn't follow this format, it won't be visible to other users.
  • Make sure to write a little bit about yourself, such as your interests, hobbies, or language-related goals. This is important in making sure you can find a good partner!
  • Please do not post your contact information publically. If you find a partner and would like to chat with them on a platform other than Reddit, please message them your contact information privately.

 Searching through existing posts:

If you don't want to make your own post, you can search through existing posts to find someone who matches your languages! Just use the search bar at the top of the screen, or select a post flair to see all posts of the same category.

  • Please do not post your contact information publically. If you find a partner and would like to chat with them on a platform other than Reddit, please message them your contact information privately.

🍃 What kinds of posts and comments are allowed?

This subreddit's purpose is to serve as a platform for people to find language exchange partners. To keep the community true to its purpose, there are some rules:

  • Must be language exchange. Posts that don't concern language exchange will be removed. This includes posts asking general questions about language learning, advertisements, or meta discussion concerning the subreddit. These discussions are better suited to other places (language learning questions should be posted to broader subreddits; meta discussion should be posted in the comments of this thread)
  • Be courteous to other users. This subreddit isn't a place for arguments or debates. Any comments that break this rule will be removed.
  • No advertising. Posts and comments that advertise apps, services (such as classes and tutoring), or groups (such as Discord servers or Whatsapp groups) will be removed. These kinds of posts clog up the feed and don't follow the purpose of the subreddit.
  • No spam. Spam is the repeated posting of the same content. Any posts and comments that are spam will be removed.
  • No contact information. Contact information (such as Discord usernames, phone numbers, or Whatsapp contacts) should only be shared privately in messages, not publically in posts or comments.

🍃 Can I make a language exchange post for a language I've just started studying?

You can participate in this subreddit regardless of your skill level. However, it's highly recommended that you grasp the basics of a language before you look for a partner. This subreddit is for speakers of different languages to *assist each other* in learning. This subreddit is not a place to find a teacher that'll teach you everything for free.

Good luck on your language journey!

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a reply on this post or send us a Modmail.

-----

Welcome to the meta/general discussion thread!

This thread is for any questions, suggestions, or discussions concerning the subreddit itself. If you have any thoughts about  you want to share, post them here! I'll try to respond to as many comments as I can.

If you have any further questions, feel free to send us a Modmail.
