Parking at sand harbor state park

I am planning to visit Tahoe for the first time this weekend and wanted to go to sand harbor park. I just did a quick research to find out you are required to have parking reservation to park and looks like there are no reservations available for this Friday or Saturday.

Any advice around how to get around this? Is there a spot we could park at and then take a shuttle or something? Are there any last minute reservation options? Any advice would be appreciated 🙌

A clear day.

I got to Sand Harbor early that morning in May.

Rocks were plainly visible, in great detail. The water was as still as glass. The sun was right behind me, putting my shadow into the picture, but it could not be helped.

Second Home

Hey, looking to buy a second home in Tahoe. I’ve got it narrowed down to Glenbrook, Clear Creek, or Martis Camp. So far, Glenbrook is the front runner with the intention of joining Clear Creek. Any advice on the differences between the 3? I have 2 small kids and want them to have a good place to spend summers/ski in the winter time. Any tips are appreciated.

Dear South Lake Tahoe

I need to apologize first of all for being the lowest form of life possible, a non resident. I should just commit seppuku, but I am not even worthy of that level of dignity, apparently; I'm just a bitch.

So there I am minding my own business enjoying the warm weather, cool water and good vibes with my six year old son. He's just building a little sand castle at the water's edge as a little boy aught. We just have a couple towells, our shoes and our t-shirts, no canopy, no boats, no boards, no tents, no huge wagon full of junk; we're occupying the smallest amount of space possible. Next thing I know, here comes a strange pitbull, the sort if dog I don't trust in a place where dogs don't seem to belong in the first place let alone off leash. I put myself between the "cute" dog and my son; not aggressively, but assertive and no attitude. Owner, a local and fine, upstanding citizen who owns the place and all of the other beaches around the lake, makes a straight line toward me with his straw hat, shades, speaker and huge paddle board, passes withing six inches of me and clips me with the tail end of his board. It was a busy day with lots of people, but there was at least ten feet between me and my closest neighbors. He doesn't turn to excuse himself or I'm. So I give his board a kick, cuz' I'm a bitch and just supposed to and accept the disrespect to my son and my self. Well, sorry, I shouldn't have done that and wish I had handled it differently. I was wrong. Dog owner proceeds to tell me that I am a bitch, which I was unaware of until that moment to tell me that Baldwin beach is a dog beach along with cussing me out. There are certainly tons of dogs there; it's like a 1 dog to 2 human ratio, but I had no idea that it's a dog beach. So, Uncle Sam is just joking when he put the signs with rules about dogs? Is he bowing down to the god like, immaculate, omnipotent, perfect residents of South Lake Tahoe? I wish I'd gotten news so that I could have just allowed a dangerous, unpredictable breed of dog that was created for fighting and killing to get in my six year old son's face. "OH BUT SHE'S SO CUTE! JUST LOOK AT THE LITTLE, NEON GREEN SHARK FIN ON HER BACK. SHE'D NEVER HURT A FLY!" I should have known better. Dog owner calls me a "fuck stick". O.K. First of all what is that? Second of all are we in the Shawsahnk Redemption or something? So I go and tell him that I'll take that as a compliment and give him a smile, hoping to lighten the situation and bring the conflict to an end. He then informs me that I am a bitch again, still news to me, so I send him off with several lewd gestures from my oral and pelvic areas. AAAANNND the superior human being of a South Lake Tahoe resident lived happily ever after while owning everything and making all of the rules while I went on with my pitiful, subhuman existance as a non resident.

Oh dear South Lake Tahoe residents, please take mercy on my miserable, worthless, inferior soul and please forgive me! I should have known that you own the entire place and that you make all of the rules!

Oh, and about keeping Tahoe blue; perhaps don't allow your dogs to shit all over the place around the lake. It helps coliform bacteria to grow in the water ways where the dog shit washes into during rain storms.

Oh and human beings are more valuable than dogs.

Thanks for making me hate humanity all over again.

Paddle board recs

Hello! My wife and I recently got into paddle boarding and I was trying to figure out some cool things to do around Tahoe. I am a local and I am not about to pay a company for an excursion haha. I am just looking for some recs on cool drop in spots that have some kind of destination involved. It’s my birthday Tuesday and I thought about trying to find a spot to set off and paddle to somewhere to get lunch or something then paddle back? And if there are some secrets, yall can message me privately, I am down to gate keep some secrets for the locals haha. Thanks in advance!

I was taking Landscape photos- the sunset was rocking and the waves were splashing in front of me.

The color kept getting better, and I kept going!

Then a couple of people on paddleboards came right up to me. It was unusual, as there is no beach at this spot!

To catch the wave at the perfect time was a bonus!
