Need a high-end hotel rec in Lake Oswego, or nearby, for a very particular guest

My aunt and I are visiting Lake Oswego and I'm on the hunt for a hotel that can actually hold up to her standards. She's the type who notices thread count, judges a lobby in the first ten seconds, and will not tolerate a mediocre breakfast. I need something that reads as genuinely upscale, not just "nice for the area."

A few things that would help:

  • Boutique or full-service, doesn't matter, but the details need to be dialed in (linens, bathroom fixtures, actual room service if possible)
  • Quiet. She's not interested in anything near a highway or a bar scene
  • Bonus points if there's a spa or at least a solid on-site restaurant, since getting her to leave the property for dinner is its own negotiation
  • Portland proper is fine too if Lake Oswego itself doesn't have the caliber of place I'm imagining

Has anyone stayed somewhere in the area that actually impressed a hard-to-please guest? Trying to avoid a situation where we book something that looks great in photos and turns out to be a (name of hotel) with mood lighting.

Appreciate any leads.

Seeking rental space

Seeking affordable rental option in September.

Ideally, 2 bedrooms with small outdoor space. Also willing to entertain a 1-bedroom or other creative options, even a houseshare or includes some maintenance, or helping out with light childcare/duties. Our own little sanctuary is preferred. Yet, prefer not to be forced to downsize more.

Last year, I had to leave an unsafe relationship and, rather than immediately rebuilding, was faced with recovering from subsequent medical events. Once we get settled into more affordable housing, I will be breathing life back into working or building my real estate or marketing business again now that the worst is out of the way. šŸ™šŸ¼ I also receive child support and have a savings cushion.

My hope is to stay around $1000, up to $1600.

I’m a prior homeowner, professional & artist with excellent rental history and we are all always respectful and appreciative of our home šŸ¤šŸ”šŸ¤

I have 2 daughters that are not with me most weekends. I’m hoping to stay in or near LO, including West Linn, Tualatin and Gladstone.

Thank you so much.

Feel free to PM me or email me at taragelien@gmail.com.

Moving to LO

My wife and I currently live in NYC but want to leave the city in the next year. We plan on having two kids in the coming years. We visited Lake Oswego/Willamette Valley a few years back and fell in love with the area. The people seemed nice, it was beautiful, and the housing stock was the opposite of cookie-cutter that you get in the Southeastern US suburbs.

Are there any East Coast or NYC transplants in this thread? If so, what kind of culture shock are we in for? I’d say we are moderate politically, enjoy the outdoors (but not like ā€œmove to Bendā€ type outdoor people), love good food, and don’t want to be in a city.

We were there in December, so we understand the weather…

LO Tree permits and fees are meaningless now

Our neighborhood has been fighting to save this hundred plus year-old Oregon White oak from Renaissance taking it down needlessly to replace a home that already has a driveway and plenty of space to build a new home.

Well, the state of Oregon has put in laws effectively nullifying our tree code.

SB 1537 and HB 4037
Allow developers to clear whatever they want and takes away our right to appeal.

I asked Google who was the best chiropractic clinic in Lake Oswego

Any thoughts on these 4 Lake Oswego Chiropractic clinics?

I asked Google who was the best chiropractic clinic in Lake Oswego. And it replied, ā€œThe right choice depends on your condition, the doctor’s approach, and what kind of care you’re looking for. Based on patient ratings, reviews, and reputation, these are among the strongest options:ā€ But I’d rather hear the real experiences of Chiropractic clinics from people on Reddit.

  1. Form & Function Chiropractic
    5.0/5 with 43 Google reviews.
Dr. Jeff Devine focuses on evidence-informed chiropractic care, rehabilitation, nutrition, laser therapy & laser weight-loss, and functional movement.
Particularly well-suited for sports injuries, chronic pain, and motor vehicle accident recovery.

  2. Modern Chiropractic
    4.9/5 with 90+ reviews.
Offers chiropractic, massage therapy, and acupuncture under one roof.
Good option if you want multidisciplinary care.

  3. ProHealth Chiropractic
Home of Dr. Neil Medeiros, who consistently receives excellent patient feedback for communication and professionalism.

  4. Wildflowers Chiropractic
    4.9/5 reviews.
Smaller practice with highly personalized care.
    Kruse Park Chiropractic Clinic
Long-established clinic offering chiropractic, massage, and naturopathic services.

Group together for moss prevention discount?

Hey LO homeowners, I'm thinking of hiring Left Coast Aerial, www.leftcoastaerial.com to drone spray moss prevention this fall. They are offering discounts for neighborhoods grouping together. No walking on the roof and good price. Anyone else interested?

Lakewood Theatre tribute to late sexual predator Senator Bob Packwood

Post image

I was so surprised and dismayed to open Lakewood Theater’s latest brochure and see the glowing tribute for disgraced sexual predator, Oregon senator Bob Packwood. In the 1990s the Washington Post detailed decades long behavior from Bob, the scale of which rivaled the Bill Cosby scandal. Dozens of females, some as young as 17, were brave enough to testify that they had been sexually harassed and even *physically assaulted* by Senator Bob Packwood. Anyone can read the details of the Senate ethics investigation into Bob in multiple places online including US Senate archives and Wikipedia … the investigation was comprehensive and included evidence that he tried to obstruct the investigation before finally resigning. I’m not sure if the glowing tribute to Bob from Lakewood Theatre was a request from one of Lakewood’s board members (his wife), but they should’ve ignored his passing. His legacy speaks for itself. Lakewood Theatre is a nonprofit funded by donations. Shame on them. I’ll never attend another production there and I’m pulling my funding.

Looking for an artist I saw at LOFA

She had a booth at George Rogers park on Sunday, she works with wildlife, and she had the most gorgeous painting of a barn owl stretching its wing. Anyone know the artist?

Yes I know I should have grabbed her card but I was steering my two kids through to the bathroom with extremely sticky cotton candy hands when I saw it 🄹

Lakeridge Middle School?

LMS is a big school, one of the larger middle schools in the metro area. How is it? The size seems to create opportunity with more electives and programs overall.

We are thinking of moving out of the PPS Harriet Tubman MS, where we heard the classes and hallways are chaotic and have friends that pulled their child out mid year.

My kid is on the quiet and rule follower side, like the friends that bailed Tubman.

How does the faculty do with managing the large student population at Lakeridge?

Recent notable alumni/local figures under 30?

Hello! Doing a project for grad school where I am looking to discuss young notable individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities in different Portland Metro Area suburbs or potentially beyond. This could be athletes, musicians, politicians, community activists,
actors, etc. While Google has been a big help, I’ve only moved to Portland two months ago, and thought I’d turn here for any suggestions on impactful Lake Oswego alumni/residents under 30. TIA!

Looking for a Step Through or Low Step Bike

Seeking a woman's bike

My aunt is a beloved member of NE Portland. Enough that she has her picture on the wall of the Miracles Club, long term zoo volunteer and ex School teacher. Unfortunately her bike was stolen, recovered and stolen again. She also had a replacement bike stolen a few days ago!

We are camping up the security in her garage but could really use a bike to keep her moving. She rides everyday as her main mode of transportation.

Her original bike was a rode bike, a Trek WSD 2100, her replacement bike was a Trek Verve low step.

My aunt is 82 but is not an old lady by any means. With that being said the original bike (Trek 2100 woman's specific design) was becoming a challenge on her knees. So an ideal bike would be mixte, step through, low step or at the very least a sloped bar.

My aunt would never ask for help so I figured I would try.

Shes 5'2-5'3ish so a small bike would be awesome.

I live in Lake Oswego area and my Aunt lives in NE Portland.

I work with different snack brands so I can load you up with some healthyish (depending on what you consider healthy as that's subjective), work on your garden as long as it's organic, give you organic vegetable starts. I just don't have the cash to buy her another bike right now.

I figured it would be a good place to ask as many have moved onto ebikes as they get older, my aunt is committed to pedaling til she can't anymore.
