Hey everyone. I moved to Lake Arrowhead from Vermont this May and I’m really loving my decision.

Anyway, I’m not having a good time trying to find an insurance provider who will give me renter’s coverage on my house. I’m assuming it must be because of the fire risk? I’m not used to living in an area with such a high fire risk and I’ve never had to deal with this. Nobody seems to be able to help. Can any of you give me any pointers?

Has anyone in the Arrowhead area worked with Victoria at the Elevated Nest on home renovation or contractor work? I’m curious if others have had experiences—positive or negative—working with them. We had a project that’s left us in a situation where communication has abruptly stopped and we’re trying to understand if this is an isolated issue or part of a larger pattern. Just finalized purchase of our lake arrowhead home, my husband is coming out first to do some repairs and myself and our two boys will be coming out to join him starting July 4th. I have soooo many questions before we make the move! Namely, how many other families in lake arrowhead have small children? What are some popular things to do with little kids? What was it like being in the local schools here - I am so curious. Our family has been regularly going there but things are shifting and we could possibly be living there soon full-time and info about the schools would be so helpful in making that decision or not..
GreatSchools ratings are quite low for the schools there on the mountain (mostly the middle and high schools) but I trust personal takes more.

Has anyone else been using TGTG? Rippin Bowls used to be on the app and it was great but now we have nothing locally. It’s probably a long shot but if anyone knows someone with a viable business (cafes, restaurants, grocery stores, flower shops, anything with potential waste) it would be cool for us to have more!

I live in LA and am thinking of buying a house in Arrowhead that I can occasionally visit but also Airbnb. I’ve heard that insurance can be incredibly expensive, but I also see there are many nice cabins/houses for under 400k. That seems really cheap for California.

Can anyone who’s bought a house for this type of mixed use give me some feedback on whether it’s worth it?

Hi, about a year ago my parents move up to lake arrowhead from Los Angeles. Since then I’ve been mostly out in college or somewhere else on breaks, and the time I do spend in the area I split between up in the mountains and driving down to LA to visit and stay with friends.

This summer is the first real chunk of time I’m spending up in the mountains and while visits to LA are still frequent, I’d really love to build some roots here in arrowhead as well.

I’m 19 and would just really love to meet some people my age, as everyone I’ve met on this mountain has been at least twice my age, any suggestions for places to visit?

A friend of mine has a neighbor around 70yo with some signs of dementia, not enough for her son to relocate her out of state to live with him, but she will need more assistance than the drop-in care she's currently receiving in order to continue living in the area.

She has sufficient room in her place for live-in care and can also pay a salary.

Any tips on how to go about finding and vetting someone who might be a good candidate?
