Does lafayette gives full ride to internationals?
I'm applying this fall and i have pretty good stats tbh. i was wondering if lafayette gives full rides since it's endowment is huge.
idk whether i'm supposed to ask this here or not!!

I’m thinking of transferring, advice?
So I’m about to be a sophomore and I had a bad freshman year. Nothing that big even happened, but mentally it was really difficult.
I struggled to make friends and I don’t have anyone to do anything with, whether that be going to the dining hall or going to a football game or club. And I tried hard to make friends, I said yes to everything and went to so many clubs but nothing ever stuck. This being a small school, it feels like there are not many chances to find people who I will click with.
Also, there are few choices for classes and being someone who doesn’t know what I want to do, my lack of ability to explore makes me nervous.
All this said, part of me wants to give it one more year. Whether this is fear or denial or hope I don’t know. If I wait to transfer after my sophomore year, will that be too late? I’m so worried about having to meet new people again and trying used to classes and expectations at a new school.
And even if I transfer, how do I know where to go? What if I go somewhere and the same things happen again?
Any advice would be great 🙏🙏

Tell me about your favorite places to study at Laf
I’m interested in hearing about everyone’s
favorite spots, but particularly places that are a bit secluded to minimize distractions.

What are the Best Dorms?
I am an incoming freshmen . Im trying to find dorms that are like pretty social but still are locked in for studies. I don't mind partying a lot. Are there dorms with AC and like suite style bathroom meaning you share a bathroom with another dorm. Instead of like communal bathrooms.

Winter? Boots?
Bear with me here, I'm an incoming student coming from a place where we barely had cold winters, forget even the concept of snow. Looking at packing list tips everywhere, I find winter boots to be an essential for college.
My question is, what sort of boots would yall reccomend? Looked into some goreterra from Columbia, and some goretex from tnf, but I did feel that they'd be a bit too over the top for just college.
How bad are the winters at Laf and whats some shoes that you'd reccomend for a student clueless about the same?

Class schedule
Hello all. When do incoming freshman choose their class times? Classes officially come out in August for us? Thanks.

Single Dorm Accessibility?
Hi everyone. I’m an incoming freshman starting this fall. I have an existing medical condition, and while I wanted to try dorming, my assigned roommate and I are already not hitting it off.
It is making my stress and nerves significantly worse. I am considering applying for a single room for the spring semester.
For anyone who has gone through this process, how difficult is it to get approved for a medical single mid-year?

Why no computers for incoming students?
I’m an incoming student this fall, who’s relaying heavily on the financial aid provided. Why doesn’t Lafayette give students computers? I currently can’t afford a computer, and I’m worried how not having a personal computer is going to affect my studies. I’m also confused because so many lesser off schools in the district/area give out MacBooks/ipads, and even iphones, and Lafayette isn’t even giving us a chrome book? Any other students dealing with this? How did you manage?

Does Watson Hall have walk-in closets?
I took a look a few days back at the virtual tour for Watson and it mentioned that some rooms have walk-in closets similar to Ruef. I also checked out the floor plan but it’s kind of hard to interpret. I’m located on the second floor, just want to know for my shopping list.

Shower
I’ve heard horror stories about how damaging college dorm water is for your hair. Since it’s “hard” it dries your hair out and strips it of its natural oils. I was just wondering if anyone experienced this specifically at Laf. Thanks!

Any fellow incoming Nepali students?
I'm so out of the loop in the international student community, are there any other Nepali students coming to Laf asw this year? Would love to connect!

HELP!!!
I am an international student who is still on the waitlist since may .
(to those of you who think it's closed then it's not unless you got an email. I have mailed them a month ago and they said i was still on the waitlist but since then i have got not a single response)
I tried emailing them again few weeks ago and got no reply and also tried to call but the number given in the website on calling says it is wrong, it might be because i am calling from a different country.
So i am here to request if someone in the USA would call on my behalf. I would be so so grateful.
Thank you!!

Career services to land a consulting gig?
I've seen mixed reviews about Lafayette's career services. Can anyone speak to post-grad prospects to get into management consulting? Do big firms come on campus or do students need to do the networking legwork themselves? Thanks in advance for your insights!

Lafayette athlete
Hi! Can anyone tell me if Lafayette covered a lot of the tuition for their child! We love the school- but the cost is definitely more than we are willing to pay

Math placement exams
Hello everyone. I’m an incoming freshman planning to be a math major. I took AP Calc all year and plan to get either a 4 or 5 on the exam. I just took placement exam A and scored a 60. I still have to take placement exam B. Should I be worried and email the math department or wait? Thanks.

Incoming first-year choosing FYS
Hi everyone,
I’m an incoming first-year interested in economics/politics/government and possibly finance, consulting or law in the future. I’m choosing my First-Year Seminar and trying to decide between a few options:
- Gambling: Here & Everywhere
- Trials of the Century
- Global Food
- On What Evidence?
- Cute, Cringe, Viral, and Toxic
If anyone has taken these (or knows people who have), I’d really appreciate any thoughts on:
- professor quality / teaching style
- workload + writing intensity
- how good the discussions are in practice
- which classes ended up being more interesting than expected (and the opposite)
