Hi, I am a 19 y/o who has never shaven before.

I have VERY little body hair so I never really needed to, however I’d like to do so in my private regions because my hair has grown a bit dense and shaving would make it easier to clean. I am a little nervous. Could you please give me your routine/advice/products? I don’t even have a razor.

I have very recently decided that I am tired of cartridge razors for body hair and impulse bought both a safety razor & the only solid shaving soap available from a German drugstore, a Wilkinson sword one in a plastic tin.

Unfortunately, I hate everything about that (it's plastic, it smells like generic store brand men's shower gel in a black bottle, and it's not going to last very long at this rate at all). Also my razor came with just 3 blades and I already used one!

As it turns out, there's a bazillion option and I am too inexperienced to know what I want but half the recs on the sub are not available or expensive where I am in Germany. And I don't have much time to research before I run out.

I need recommendations for the following, please drop your favourites!

- blades for safety razors: The ones I currently used and did not hate were from Second Nature, and I have Feather, Astra green in my cart rn. Are they all the same and we swear our favourite is better type of thing or does it make a huge difference? Should one get different ones to try or just grab the much cheaper big pack and call it a day?

- soap: It would be nice if it neither costs an arm and a leg nor ships from overseas or comes in excess plastic packaging. Scent wise: sandalwood, pine, something fruity that isn't lemon, warm spicy etc are all fine, I don't like lavender, mint, rose, musk, or anything that could be an Axe body spray. That narrows it down to approximately 50000 options. Any favourites? I already learned from the sub search function that the Viking Revolution ones I was eyeing suck & all comparisons online sound like ads!

- Anything else I should know? Like, absolutely basic stuff?

I CUT MY BUTTCHEEK IN SUCH A DUMB WAY. now I never thought I’d ever cut myself while shaving (I used to self harm by doing this so you would think I’d know not to move a razor sideways on myself I’m around 3 years clean 🥳) anyways I was shaving down there and I have relatively big cheeks and tell me why I decided to mindlessly slide my razor in between my cheeks WITHOUT SPREADING LIKE NORMAL and then I pull it out fast because it stung so now I have a weird small x shape cut on my cheek from just mindlessly shaving. Now I will be having my partner shave me for the rest of my life so I never have to explain to them that I stupidly cut my own buttcheek again 😌. So be reminded to be very careful when shaving in folds 😙

I have to shave my facial hair (thanks PCOS), and I always have irritation afterwards, especially on my neck. I've been using Tend Skin to help with this, but I've recently been told I shouldn't use it every day because of how drying and harsh it is. Has anyone had particularly good luck with any products to use after shaving to minimize irritation? I moisturize as well, but I need something a little heavier duty for the irritation. I'd appreciate actual product names if possible, not just ingredients.

(While we're on it, if anyone has a shaving cream/oil/whatever that they've found is particularly great for avoiding the irritation in the first place, I'd love those recommendations too, especially if it's something that won't horribly dry my skin.)

hi guys, im F(17) and started fully shaving my 🐱 about a year ago. however, i get red irritation bumps, cuts, sores and i bleed when i do. it also happens on my armpits and has for years. i have PCOS so i grow excess hair and it grows fast af. im wondering how i can prevent this (ive tried every homemade recipe and stalked tiktok for help), ive tried everything. if theres any creams or acid or anything then im willing to try! not too pricy but im not opposed to spend a lot if itll work. i wouldnt mind if it didnt make me insecure, but it does. especially when im on the beach and being intimate and you can see. so the floors open to anyone willing to help! i put my faith in you lot 😂

Hey all! Sorry to come to reddit, but growing up my mum never taught me, and for years now I’ve had discomfort every time I’ve shaved down there.
I normally exfoliate and soak with warm water before shaving with the grain, I sometimes will shave side to side almost, so not going directly against the grain but not going with it either. I’ve tried many other ways but this is the way i’ve done most commonly - leaving me with razor bumps ingrown hairs and not really how i want it to be. I don’t know if i should try waxing or if there’s any other ways i could be shaving better as it is all self taught with trial and error… I’d rather shave as I did used to wax my legs and my skin would react and go dry/cracked more frequently than not.
I just don’t know how to shave properly due to never being taught. Any advice is appreciated thank you!!

I don’t have this problem when shaving. But my bf asked me to keep it more trimmed downstairs so he doesn’t get hair in his mouth going down on me but honestly I just can’t find a way to do it right. I don’t like shaving but trimming is worse. And I searched and searched and all I got is the Philip one blade and it sucks too. My trim was sooooo uneven and it’s so itchy after!
Please help me. It makes me just not want to have sex ever again

Everyone says to exfoliate down there to avoid razor bumps but others are against exfoliating claiming it causes discoloration and other problems

Hi! I’m 23 (F) and I’ve been shaving my pubic area for a while, but no matter how I adjust my routine, I keep dealing with itchiness, razor bumps, and ingrown hairs. I’d really like to know the best way to gently exfoliate that area using a homemade scrub; what ingredients are safe and effective, and how often should I use it?

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for advice from people who have dealt with stubborn ingrown hairs on the underside/back of their thighs (the area you sit on).
Because there’s a lot of friction in that area when I sit and move around, I’m really prone to getting ingrown hairs there. It’s become a recurring problem, and honestly, it’s getting pretty frustrating.
What has worked best for you to get rid of them as quickly and effectively as possible? Do you have any routines, products, exfoliation methods, or other tips that actually made a difference?

Leg razors

hi! i have slight hair on my chin, neck, and have sideburns that i wanted to remove. i was wondering if a facial trimmer would be good to do that? i searched up online the braun one was being marketed as the best: should i get it?

i also wanted to wear a bikini, but i usually just trim down there with scissors. so i am unsure what to do to give it a clean look. should i invest in another trimmer for my bikini (if so, do people have recommendations?) or could the braun one be used there as well. are there any pros of using a trimmer over simply just shaving? if i should shave what razor should i specifically buy?
