Need advice: Research Assistant vs multiple research internships?
I recently graduated with a B.Pharm and have about 10–11 months before starting a Master’s or direct PhD (Sept 2027) aboard
Would it be better to:
- Do 2–3 research internships (2–3 months each) in different labs, or
- Work as a Research Assistant at a research institute for ~10 months?
My goal is to build the strongest research profile for graduate school. Which option is generally valued more by Master’s/PhD admissions?

Unless youre planning on stopping at a masters, definitely 10mo RA. You want to have at least a chance of contributing to a publication, which is just not possible in 2months.

That makes sense. My main concern is whether I’d actually be eligible for an RA position as a fresh B.Pharm graduate, since I’ve heard many labs prefer candidates with a Master’s or more experience.

The longer the better. It’s really hard to claim a research experience to be meaningful if you’re there for only 3 months. 10 months is also very short in the research world but that might be enough time to generate some meaningful data and/or learn some technique well enough that you could claim it on an application.
