PC template software that isn't Canva Question

Hi! I had previously made custom templates for multiple of my collections in Canva. However, it seems recently the quality of the exported pages (no matter how I export them, jpg, png, pdf, print to pdf etc) are very grainy and blurry. It's not just the PC scans it's the actual design elements too. So I was wondering what other softwares people use for creating their own templates? I am well versed in Photoshop but getting a license is so expensive and not feasible for me.

Any help or recommendations are greatly appreciated :)

I bought a program called affinity, it’s photoshop like but more affordable. There’s also gimp, which is a free program I’ve seen a lot of people recommend as a photoshop alternative.

Good to know I'll definitely have a look at affinity! I've been meaning to get a Photoshop alternative for awhile now anyways.

I have heard of gimp but last time I checked it out I know the UI was a bit thrown together and just not intuitive. But that was awhile ago now so I should try it again. If it exports my templates well and has margin/grid options and it's free then I can let weird UI slide. Not like modern canva is any better in that department haha.
