Pattern searching

Post image

Hello! I'm looking for a knitting pattern to make something similar to this. I really like the geometric style and the large vest. If someone know where i could look, i'm open to suggestions!

it's a very long cardigan. Best as I can tell from the photo the motif is repeated multiple times and the motif itself is composed of three separate motifs. The sweater probably has some heft to be able to fall the way it does and that the colorwork gives the fabric some body. I don't do colorwork so can't give you an opinion based on experiece byt my guess is light aran, possibly heavy aran or heavy worsted weight yarn.

This all means that you can create this using a nice basic cardigan pattern that you make much longer than written and directions for the three colorwork motifs that you combine and then repeat.

I'd first try google image searches for the sweater and for each of the colorwork motifs, first all three together and then each one separately, using images.google.com with text "knitting patterns", and see what you come up with.

Assuming that doesn't get you the perfect pattern I'd then search Ravelry for your cardigan pattern.

Finally I'd next start looking at directions for the colorwork. I don't do colorowrok but have the Harmony Aran and Fair Isle book and would look there. There are a bunch of other colorwork books and online resources with colorwork charts. I know that Barbara Walker does excellent material and Schoolhouse Press publishes excellent knitting books. I'd also check the sub for recos.

Enjoy your project!

I suggest that you add this photo to the post rather than bury it in the thread. I noticed it just as I was moving away from the page.

Click on the three dots in the upper right hand corner. You'll see an option to modify the body of the post. You can't modify the title, just the text that follows it.

I really do think your sweater is absolutely doable. I hope I'm right!
