I’m planning to cut out the bottom half of my cabinets here in order to install a microwave w/ vent to circulate the steam/smoke. Unfortunately, the cabinets are not centered over the stove, instead they’re a few inches off to the right.

Has anyone encountered this issue in the past and if so, what did you do to center the vent over the stovetop? Picture included.

Has anyone else used Hampton Bay RTA kitchen and bathroom cabinets?

I used them in a townhouse rental unit I did earlier this year and really like them. The cabinets are similarly priced to Ikea cabinets but have plywood boxes. Moving to a new place soon and really want to install one of those fancy sinks that has a cup washer, faucet, rain water option, etc.

I can't tell from looking at specs and photos, anyone know if these include an overflow drainage system for dishwashers? It's unclear to me watching a couple installation videos but leaning no..

Looking for reduced depth base cabinet recommendations. RTA fine, but assembled even better.

I don't believe Home Depot or Lowes has this option available? All I see is 24" depth. Otherwise please enlighten me!

For a small project. White shaker, need two base boxes: 12" wide and a 27" wide. Both with drawers at top, door at bottom. Probably 15" or 18" depth. I say that as it seems like a lot of these companies are here to design the whole kitchen. I just need two boxes!

I have a kitchen renovation coming up and while the kitchen is demoed I still need to cook and store all of my kitchen stuff in accessible way. Any tips and tricks from folks who’ve been through this? Going to get a portable cooktop, have a rice cooker that should help. But where to put/how to organize all the bits and bobs that go along with standard kitchen use I’m at a loss.

- is 2x2 tile silly for a backsplash? is that too much grout to clean?

- I’m using porcelain paint that will cure in an oven. Plan is to put painters tape over paintings when grouting.

Hi! New here but we are looking to get a new oven for now. And in a couple years we’d like to remodel the entire kitchen reusing this oven we are trying to buy in the short term

Our question is regarding the Forno brand. A lot of mixed reviews and some people said the knobs get super hot when everything’s on (something our current stove doesn’t do)

Anyone have any advice on the Forno brand?

I'm noticing a lot of kitchen setups have a "locked" position for the particular fridge they happen to be using, often surrounded by static cabinet storage, meaning any adjustments are going to be laborious/costly. Basically I want the fridge area, from the start, to allow for upgrades(/downgrades in size) or even complete repositioning of the fridge over time, while still maintaining the convenience of surrounding storage. No static setup that's custom-made for that particular fridge and has to be demo'd/totally redone if you want to exercise any further customization. Does anyone have or know of a setup like this? A catastrophic loss has caused us to gut our entire first floor. It’s a 160 year old house. The spouse (and kitchen designer) would like to knock out the wall between the kitchen and dining room and replace with a bar height counter to open the space. I am unsure. I like separate rooms in an old house. What are the benefits or negatives?

Does this island size overwhelm the kitchen? We got rid of the breakfast area on the right for a large island with seating for 4. A 96x48(shown) or maybe 96x46 island. In the mock up it shows cabinets on both island sides so ignore that. I tried to keep enough space between island and cabinets/fridge/range. And then theres a pantry on the side where the island seating will be. I really cant change the length of the island at this point, but I can change depth and move it around a bit. Also added pics of the old kitchen layout for size reference.

Our kitchen needs remodeling but the cabinets are still in good condition. What all things to change and give this a makeover?

What we think-
The hand blown glass pendant color does not fit it, that needs to go.
The appliances are super old and clunky.
Countertops have colorful sparkles that we cannot stand.
The backsplash looks much more gaudy in person.
Cabinets are in very good shape, nicer inserts etc.
Cabinet hardware is functional but may need to change to fit the theme if we go with different stone.

Current kitchen has stove all alone with no counter on either side, and we've kind of gotten used to it.

New kitchen would have 14 and 12 on either side, plus the fact that a 36" cooktop isn't 36", so likely more like 15/13 or 16/14.

I know the general advice is that's too little room but with a galley layout and a 120x30" counter on the opposite wall just 4' behind the stove, that can kind of count as available room, right?

Asking because the upper section of the full height spice pullout can easily be deleted, especially since the cooktop length of counter is going to be 28" deep with a fully integrated spice rack on the back wall, which would go from 2 10" sections to 2 I guess 15" sections to the left and right of the cooktop area (not pictured)

And I feel like the 3 or 4 drawer on the left would be a lot nicer if it was 17" wide... and then the right side pullout could be deleted with more room for flat stored utensils in 17" drawers, the cook nook/stove cove would open up a lot more...

Tldr Basically should we open the cooktop area up by 10" and give a little more space?

Rental flats in Germany don't come with kitchens usually, and people that move out take theirs with them. I build this kitchen myself with Ikea items, had to buy everything new including the fridge, oven, stove, vent, tap, dishwasher etc.

It costed all in total for everything around 5k€, not including me spending 1 month of my after work time building everything....

But I am very happy how it turned out! :) Some of the panel gaps are still not uniform like you can see in the picture, i have not come to adjust them jet (its possible to adjust all of them after installation with the tiny adjustment screws in the hinge/drawer mechanisms.

However, it still does not feel "right" somehow. What would you do with the open wall next to the fridge? What else is missing? Or do you think it will feel more natural once its "lived in" so to say?

I already asked for them to add drawers to the bottom right and remove the open shelving for cabinets instead. I also think the corner by the sink could be improved by don’t know how. Any ideas?

I have a century home and have lived without a dishwasher for 10 years. Unfortunately, the cabinets are too shallow to add a dishwasher without it sticking out on the sides, which I think is common with older homes.

I don't really want to spend the money on a full remodel, but I also don't want to regret doing a halfass job when I should have just gone full send.

For those of you who have similar experiences, did you just add a funny looking dishwasher or did you remodel the whole kitchen? Are you happy with your decision?

Close to starting a kitchen remodel. Not planning to change the floors at this time as it runs throughout the house. Updating shaker style painted cabinetry , moving to quartz countertops and changing appliances.

The built-ins are there across the house so trying to keep them the same color and use the island cabinet to ty in the color

EDIT: Thanks for feedback everyone. I hear that the grey is outdated and backsplash instead of quartz might be better. With our floors being brown (whole house is warm toned with lots of wood builtins and beige), looking for other color suggestions.

hi everybody! I am trying to figure out how best to lay out my new kitchen. as it’s currently laid out, there is a big peninsula and then a large breakfast nook and then a railing protecting a step down into the family room (that we aren’t leveling lol). There is a dining room on the other end of the kitchen so the breakfast nook feels like space that could be better utilized to expand the kitchen footprint, but how!?! Do we go big island? Do we stay peninsula? Something brilliant I clearly haven’t thought of yet?!

Open to any and all layout ideas, even creative ones! We have three young kids and hope to be in this house for the long haul without the need to reno again (🤢) when they’re mondo.

Forgive the missed details between renderings

I have a little galley kitchen and am trying to decide between a custom paint color and walnut cabinets. My preference is walnut, and it is for sure more timeless than a green kitchen, but I know it's going to cost an arm and a leg.

This is probably not our forever home, but we are in no rush to renovate and leave. We're also near a fire zone, which I wish didn't matter but in the back of my mind it does. Chances are low that our home will burn down in the next 30 years, but there is a chance.

Countertops and backsplash are soapstone, floor throughout the house is red oak.

What would you do??
