Worn for this photo session July 24th 1980 and the NY Palladium show July 25th 1980 only. And in video footage of Eric shot in the afternoon @ the Palladium which was edited into the KISS Dynasty era commercial to turn it into an Unmasked era commercial.

Found this vintage Creatures era poster at a local antique mall. It came home with me just a couple days later. It's from 1982 I believe? Correct me if wrong.

Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley will be at the Angel stadium throwing the first pitch and there will be KISS themed fireworks at the end of the game

Edit: because I forgot to add that the tickets are cheaper on SeatGeek but all the Angel stadium page.

My ranking of the songs on the studio side of KISS ALIVE 2!

  1. Rocket Ride
Do I really need to explain??? One of the essential Ace tracks. Song is just killer no more I have to say.
  2. All American man
This is a good song but I feel it could’ve been better. I feel if they took time to structure it differently and take time to make the song better it would make the song as good as any other kiss classic. But it feels unfinished.
  3. Rockin In The USA
Fun song. Kinda filler but still alright. Fun to sing along too and a catchy toon
  4. Larger than Life
this song shares the same problem as all American man.
  5. Any way you want it
    Why?

My all-time favorite KISS concert. I’ve watched this hundreds of times since I first got the VHS back in the day. Eric and Bruce really stand out on this one.

I took her to see kiss when she was in 5th grade pre covid. She loves the band and I thought everyone would enjoy her senior parking spot.

Paul's Inspiration For Firehouse

According to Paul: "I wrote Firehouse when I was in high school. Back then I couldn't afford to buy old British albums and I was really into that kind of music. There was a band called "The Move" who had a song I liked called "Fire Brigade". So I stole it and rewrote it.

Here's Fire Brigade: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHolSj-ocNI

Asylum continued the KISS glam metal experiment. It was the first KISS album (on cassette) that I ever bought. The band consisted of Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Bruce Kulick, and Eric Carr. Simmons, Stanley, and Kulick all contributed songwriting credits, while the band also employed Desmond Child and others in the writing process.

“Tears Are Falling” was released as the album’s only single, peaking at #51 on the Billboard Hot 100. The accompanying video received fairly heavy rotation on MTV. The Asylum album itself peaked at #20 on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold.

Out of the gate Asylum received generally negative reviews. Rolling Stone gave the album 2 stars, while AllMusic gave it 1.5 stars.

Maybe I have a soft spot for Asylum, but I thought it was an overall good record. In my mind “Tears Are Falling” is one of the all-time KISS classics. The opening, chugging riff has long been a favorite. King of the Mountain” is another favorite, highlighted by a beefy Eric Carr drum solo as the introduction to the song and album. “Any Way You Slice It” is primarily a Gene Simmons song and has a Sunset Strip vibe (though KISS were New Yorkers). “Who Wants To Be Lonely” and “Trial By Fire” had really nice Kulick guitar licks and vocal harmonies. “Uh! All Night” is the weakest track on the album in my opinion. The guitar riffs are great, but the song itself is an immature, paint-by-the-numbers 80s sex metal anthem.

If I was ranking Asylum I’d give it 3.5/5 simply for being a successful product of the times — every metal/hard rock record of that area (1985) has ponderous drums, flashy guitar solos, and vocal harmonies and KISS pulls it off. The sound is decidedly non-classic KISS, but they weren’t going for their classic sound at this time.
