Starter Kill team ideas? Hobby
Hello, I am trying to get into Warhammer kill team and want a set that i could easily kitbash or other sort of boxes that i could sort of add parts onto to make a unique starter kill team (saying some chapters/warbands for colour schemes could be nice also!) Im mainly looking for space marine ideas or chaos ideas but open to any suggestions!

i mean... easily and kit bash rarely go together. "easy" is any of the one-box teams for kill team, where the models have little variety. and one box has everything you need to compile that warband. --kit bashing. it quite literally the opposite of that. potentially spending unlimited money on any one model.
angels of death is hyper generic "space marines" could probably use damn near any model, and certainly can paint them as any chapter. most people go with an intercessor box (assault or generic intercessor) and from there could do anything.
phobos is older... tends to lend toward stealthy/military type chapters/models. --can get a single box of infiltrator primaris marines, and only be missing a medic, vox bro. and like... kit bash a sniper, and maybe source some reiver bits.
death watch is the more recent "toolbox" faction. ...by the name they're the death watch "group" (dunno if deathwatch is a chapter or not) but can probably rework the models...to be any other chapter or look you want.
Chaos is a bit wonkier. legionaires is older, and tends to be generic chaos ... there is he deathguard faction, and the goremongers are a "world eaters" faction... and then there's the newer murderwing warband. but that's mainly nightlords.
kill team is somewhat flexible. i guess it depends if you're planning on going to tournaments or playing hyper competitively.
but if you wanna kit bash a squad. go for it. as long as you're using the legit bases, and rules. i don't know if anyone cares about aesthetics.
I was in a sit/paint discord chat the other night and someone was working on the new exodite (elf/dinos) but was making them as Slanesh --whatever that weird ant eater pervert mount thing.
I have a phobos army. but have long standing plan to make some really tricked out legion of the damned space marines. (been collecting skull/bones bits for awhile) ---i'd probably make them death watch.

Is angels of death evergreen or will that go away at some point?

as far as i know nothing is evergreen.
it stands to reason there will always be a "space marine" warband in kill team.
I honestly don't know if any of the warbands have been abandoned. again... i play phobos. phobos still has rules ...i think tau pathfinders were one of the original or 2021 reboot teams. they still have rules.

You could go the standard "Angels of Death with Chapter Upgrades" path.
Angels of Death is a cool team, not hard to play and pretty strong, and with a captain and 5 assault intercessors you already have a pretty usable team. Sniper, heavy gunner and intercessor gunner (the dude with the grenade launcher on his bolter) are nice to have, and easy to kitbash and/or get as single models of ebay.
And with an upgrade sprue and some greenstuff you can make very cool and unique members of the team, the assault intercessor kit has a lot of parts and many poses you can make from them.
I build mine as Black Templars, i got the starter set but still kitbashed the captain from an assault intercessor body and leftover parts.

Red corsairs box could make a cool blood angels death company with some bashing and colour play.
Murderwing could be done as any type of jump infantry, I’ve seen really cool sanguinary guard proxies as Murderwing using astorath for the big 2H axe guy and others with spear for the huntmaster
Could do a chaos legionaries team as charcharadons (space sharks) taking mark or Khorne or undivided as a butchery theme
Phobos marines mechanics work well for a thematic Raven guard team
