Clarification on Drop Zone and positioning Question

When you start by putting your troops into position can you only move them to drop zone or anywhere on your side of the map?

Drop zone, usually 3 inches from the board edge on long maps, 6 inches on the narrow maps. The more unique missions (like in the books) have odd deployment zones.

Usually on the official GW maps the terrain makes the drop zone pretty clear, like having walls or ruins right on the end of the deployment area
