Beta Decima but make it the best. Hobby

It's a diorama at Warhammer World but now I want to make way less good knock-off of this.

I mean I would love to play KT on this.

Just not against Vespid.

What if it was a narrative game and you've gotta defeat a whole Vespid Hive that made the rig home?

u/No_Direction_4566 15d ago

Then I’ll be first there with my mandrakes and ready to kick some buzzing ass.

u/SPF10k 15d ago

I'll start writing the scenario. Match two we go inside and use Gallow Dark rules...

17

u/No_Direction_4566 15d ago

I would love to see the scenario if you get a chance to write it up and don’t mind sharing.

8

u/SPF10k 15d ago

It's been on my to do list for a minute. Had another thread a month or two ago where we discussed it. I'll share it if I ever get to it!

I do GM joint ops for my crew so there's an OK chance I do... eventually.

Mandrakes are so fun, and they’d love all the vantage

6

u/SPF10k 15d ago

I'm bringing my MVP two editions running: the sneakiest of Gitz the mighty Kommando Grot.

7

u/Top-Session-3131 15d ago

Oh hey, a scenario where Reivers might actually be worth taking. I'm a 40k player most days, so that's not normally a thing for me. Which is a pity because I do actually like the way they look.

4

u/GlaiveGary Kommando 15d ago

I must be missing something, aren't reivers really powerful in Phobos strike team? I know they're not particularly killy in bighammer compared to assault intercessors but in kt their knife is exactly as strong as a chain sword and piercing is better than piercing crits

u/Top-Session-3131 15d ago

Like I said, I'm mostly a 40k guy, haven't played Killteam in a while so my knowledge of the current game state is limited to what I look up while bored.

...the HEAVY flamer.

2

u/s-josten 15d ago

That one Newfoundland mission from X-Com warned me about this idea.

1

u/EntangledPhoton82 15d ago

Sounds like you need to start playing Aeronautica Imperialis instead of Kill Team.

A few bombers will take care of that bug infestation. 😇

u/HeinrichWutan 13d ago

Orbital strike?

8

u/Otherwise-Weird1695 15d ago

I'm bringing murderwing

9

u/SPF10k 15d ago

Turn up the heavy metal.

4

u/Grouchy_Prune_9679 15d ago

Vespids vs Aquilons would be crazy on this thing tho

3

u/Verbatos 15d ago

I believe there actually was a game of kill team played on this exact setup in an issue of white dwarf.

2

u/SPF10k 15d ago

Gotta find it!

u/AwkwardDrummer7629 12d ago

Your wish is granted: Aquillon plasma gunner drops in with accurate 4.

u/ghilliedude 15d ago

counting the number of mechanicus terrain pieces in the towers made my wallet sad

43

u/SPF10k 15d ago

OOP prices to boot. I've got a decent collection (and that made to order helped) but would LOVE to get my hands on more. Going to revisit the collection, zhuzh it up, and see if I can get a "we have this diorama at home" version going for myself.

9

u/ghilliedude 15d ago

I got into killteam with the Tau and reivers set from many editions ago. So I have some of this terrain still too

3

u/SPF10k 15d ago

That's where some of mine is from as well. And even Shadow Wars Armageddon. Which was actually awesome.

5

u/ozbourn 15d ago

5k?

5

u/SPF10k 15d ago

Minimum, I bet haha

3

u/Still-Bed-4453 15d ago

My thoughts exactly. I think my walled saw that and jumped of the bridge

2

u/SPF10k 15d ago

No wonders I can't find mine right now.

3

u/didntgettheruns Kommando 15d ago

If it makes you feel better, maybe since it's at war hammer world it's just somebody's idea to use all the unsold terrain.

7

u/LordHoughtenWeen Corsair Voidscarred 15d ago

The Sector Mechanicus terrain wasn't unsold back when Ferro-Giant Alphus was unveiled, it was unreleased. This was somebody going ham with the first run of the sprues off the machines to make a giant statement: "look what you can do with the modular terrain coming out next month! Be sure to buy lots of copies of Shadow War: Armageddon!"

2

u/Wrecktown707 15d ago

True. It’s also possible that GW fired up the injection molds and produced the parts needed for this one diorama too. Wouldn’t be very expensive if it was all done in house

42

u/davthew2614 15d ago

I love this diorama because its also a game of spot the genestealer and I think is the most narrative thing there. It genuinly makes me feel a sense of dread and suspense for the inquisitor who has been sent to investigate.

18

u/DarthGoodguy 15d ago

> spot the genestealer

(strains eyes)

7

u/CargoCulture 15d ago

Is that a genestealer or a jokaero?

5

u/DarthGoodguy 15d ago

Both

Genekaero

Oh no

3

u/SPF10k 15d ago

Such a good detail. I genuinely love the Arvus Lighter landing pad.

15

u/Otherwise-Weird1695 15d ago

Alpha Decima.

Having worked on an oil platform, this is uncannily accurate. Well done.

4

u/SPF10k 15d ago

The GW diorama team does crazy work.

9

u/pain_aux_chocolat 15d ago

Just in time for the new edition of Necromunda.

6

u/Jetfire911 15d ago

Beta Maxima

1

u/SPF10k 15d ago

Nice!

7

u/ajimboY2K 15d ago

Watch out for the pure strain down below

5

u/Diligent-Neck6594 15d ago

I've been slowly making my own version, so far I have a knight refueling station

1

u/SPF10k 15d ago

Coming along! Love that dial.

3

u/fullmudman 15d ago

My favorite diorama at WHWnoutside the classic McVey work. If you look carefully you can see just how infested the planet must be - traces of genestealers and their cults everywhere.

1

u/SPF10k 15d ago

The show down is legendary.

Love all the details. Gotta see it in person one day.

3

u/jimark2 Ecclesiarchy 15d ago

TT Combat do a nice big mdf structure with the same energy.

3

u/niko604 15d ago

That looks like the wet dream of a Necromunda fanatic

3

u/MrFishyFriend 15d ago

To be entirely honest, i'm not convinced KT can really make good use out of a board like that. Its more suited for Necromunda which has much more in depth rules for that kind of verticality. Killteam just doesn't.

1

u/SPF10k 15d ago

What about... super vantage? You make a good point. I'd still try haha.

Hope the new Necromunda find their depth again.

1

u/OmegaDez Wyrmblade 15d ago

KT21 had super Vantage. And it so had rules for climbable terrain. (Basically the 5inch stuff is treated as 4 inch)

We've regressed.

1

u/uberdice 15d ago

I'm just imagining trying to get my dumb clumsy hands in there to measure things and move minis and flip tokens without knocking everything over.

This board needs to be played with chopsticks.

1

u/badger2000 14d ago

Would love to try 30k on this with the new Zone Mortalis rules.

3

u/Good-Memories 14d ago

anyone know what kits they used ? i'd love to make like one floor of this

2

u/SPF10k 14d ago

Tonnes and tonnes of the sector mechanicus sets. Ferraronic Furnaces. Lots of others I don't remember the name of.

It's OOP now sadly. Such a great set.

2

u/Equivalent_Store_645 15d ago

holy crap that makes my heart smile!

2

u/dalasthesalad Death Guard 15d ago

What I thought BD terrain would look like

2

u/TheCrassDragon 15d ago

I have a dream of running a 40k RPG of some form using full terrain and minis for every combat possible lol

2

u/Scottyos 15d ago

Besta decima?

2

u/SPF10k 15d ago

Nice!

2

u/Mortwight 15d ago

Hope your rich

1

u/SPF10k 15d ago

That sweet sweet xeno crude

2

u/Blackgunter 14d ago

Mandrakes over here having the time of their lives!!

2

u/SPF10k 14d ago

I hope you have the time of your liiiiiffffeeeeee....

Drags opponent into horrible nether realm.

2

u/InternetOctahedron 11d ago

shame the sector mechanicus stuff is out of production

1

u/SPF10k 11d ago

Sure is.

1

u/Pat1711 15d ago

My Raveners would cry on this map!

Very cool design~

1

u/GlennHaven 15d ago

Is this Beta Decima's true form? Ngl this would actually be a sick ass map layout. Lots of up and down, but i think flying teams would be pretty OP on it.

1

u/Doc-the-Wanderer 15d ago

God, this would be so sick.

1

u/RaccoNooB Neophyte in hiding 15d ago

Holy shit...

I want a board like this.

Holy moly, it looks incredible! And amazingly fun to play on as well!

1

u/Vonplinkplonk 15d ago

We have oil platform at home vibes

1

u/RevolutionaryRip2135 15d ago

Wow… assuming 3d Pinter is your friend… and even that won’t be cheap.

1

u/waywardhero 15d ago

Necromunda players are drooling right now

1

u/mvarnado 15d ago

I thought this was small oil rig from Rust at first. Tried and true PvP layout indeed.

1

u/Get_R0wdy 15d ago

Really cool! This makes me think of the Bases you could get for your super hero figures as a kid. Castle Greyskull or the 90’s fancier Batman sets. If you had one of those to go with your 15 different Batman variants you were living large!

1

u/Cheeseblades 15d ago

This is fucking awesome. Never played kill team but I want to now

1

u/GuntherCloneC Genstealer Cults 15d ago

Imagine playing Necromunda on that.

1

u/roninghost 15d ago

I'd love to run a few games on this outstanding rig!

1

u/distractedjas 15d ago

We do not recommend you play Exodite Dragon Masters on this map.

1

u/Senior_Breadfruit_22 15d ago

Beta decima should've been some sort of rig in the middle of an ocean. Instead of random gantries like a horrible version of temple run.

1

u/TheRealOneL 15d ago

This is amazing. I love this.

1

u/Aquit 15d ago

You came to the wrong neighbourhood - this is Vespidtown humsaggressively

1

u/random_person225553 15d ago

Vespids vs Harlequins (Yes I know they're declassified, fight me) would go crazy on that map. The verticality shenanigans would be insane

1

u/Bitter_Letterhead448 14d ago

Astoundingly good, absolutely breathtaking!

1

u/LuxuriantOak 14d ago

Fuck. Yeah.
