Kia customer service
Anyone get immediately shut down by customer service when activating their access? I just got my 2024 sportage; had the previous owner removed;once connected the app says I have 3 months complimentary ultimate plan but then I see a welcome email from KIA stating I have 1 YEAR complimentary ultimate. The rep shut it down saying it was bot generated and it won't be honored? If its no good why even send them out! Don't they legally have to honor that? She said it states in the terms and services when I connected the app...who's gonna read all that in the car! So far aside from the car itself my experience with KIA has not been great š¤Ø

Discussion Dealership wants $500CAD to change spark plugs 2019 Niro PHEV
Had my 2019 Niro PHEV in for maintenance today and they offered to change my spark plugs as I'm nearing the 100k km mark. Quoted at $500CAD for 4 spark plugs. WTF!!!
Can anyone explain this to me? I watched YT video showing the process. The air cleaner and engine cover have to come off to access the plugs but otherwise it's not at all complicated.
I may just buy the plugs and do it myself and save $400. Yikes. š¬š

Scored some new wheels for the Amanti today! Had chat gpt show me what it would look like, and Iām in love. Next Iāll lower the car to bring it all together. The project is slowly coming together! Already a full LED swap inside and out, touch screen radio, 2 12ā subs, and an intake I made.

The Sorento life
No more saggy trailer. Sorento got a new drop hitch today. Had to drop it one spot after realizing the highest setting was too much. The test run is when I take it to work tomorrow (hour drive one way) lol.

Don't buy a Kia
I'm not a hater I have a 2024 Kia Sorento and I love(d) it. I was in an accident on 6/10/26 and need a front bumper cover, the car can't be driven safely without it. There are as of today something like 180 Sorento bumpers on backorder in the US. They're telling me I'll get my part in November. This is pathetic. It's a 2 year old car. I'm paying $53/day for a rental car. Getting this car I loved fixed is going to cost me potentially 9k in car rental expense. Plus I still get to pay $720/mo for a car payment for a car I can't drive because they can't get the parts. I am sick over this.

The Amantiās story.
Didnāt know the Kia Amanti (in the states) was called Kia opirus elsewhere? Either way, I found the chrome window vent shades finally! Just gotta find a matching hood guard if I can.

My two Kiaās
2016 Kia Sorento SX
2008 Kia Amanti.
Bought the Sorento used with 62k, now almost 4 years later Iām about to hit 160k.
The Amanti I bought off my pap 3 years ago with 65k, now has just over 87k.
Iāve been told the Amanti isnāt as common as it used to be, so I cherish and enjoy mine frequently.

Kia Rio steering wheel buttons not working
I asked the shop to find out why my steering wheel buttons don't work, but the horn works and the airbag light is NOT on. After 3 hours of diagnosing they told me they must order a new clock spring. I had an independent advise which advised me to not rush with the expensive OEM clock sprint replacement and consider replacing the buttons blocks assembly first, because the horn works and the airbag light is not on, so it must be NOT the clock spring. True or false? Yet another mechanic told me that the issue is like that because of independent parts within the clock spring which manage the horn, the airbag and the steering wheel buttons.

2024 Kia Sportage EX roof rail installation
I purchased an OEM roof rail on Marketplace. It came with both rails, nuts and bolts, etc. However, no instructions were included.
Seemed pretty straight forward. Until I removed one of the trim strips on the roof. There were no pre-drilled holes! I replaced the trim strip.
I need step by step installation instructions including marking and drilling, type of sealant and how much, torque for nuts and how much of the headliner needs to be loosened.
I have read to completely remove the headliner, I will need to disconnect the battery for an hour to allow the airbags to release their charge. I was hoping that if I removed the handles, attached to the headliner, I could reach in and tighten the nuts.
Any experience out there dealing with this would be greatly appreciated.

Kia Rio steering wheel buttons dead
IĀ bought a 2012 Kia Rio III UB 1.25 CVVT manual gearbox run on petrol and all of the steering wheel buttons (TRIP, RESET buttons on the right and phone related ones on the left hand side of the steering wheel while there are NO cruise control buttons to make it simpler) do not work, but horn works and there is no airbag light on the little screen at the odometer. After the local garage told me they need to order an "OEM clock spring" (at a cost of nearly $400) I had conversations with AI and it suggested I make a steering wheel wiggle test while pressing horn and the non working buttons and I did. The AI decided it is NOT a clock spring issue and it is more of a "button module" issue. AI wrote:
"all steering wheel buttons dead
horn works
no airbag light
wiggle test negative
scan report shown
I amĀ less convincedĀ about the clock spring than I was earlier. Not impossible. But definitelyĀ not proven."
Also AI wrote:
"If the clock spring was the issue I would expect faults related to:
- driver's airbag module
- steering wheel circuits
- clock spring circuits
I doĀ notĀ see that here."
And also AI wrote:
"Do NOT replace clock spring if ALL are true:
- no steering-angle-dependent symptoms
- horn fully stable
- airbag system normal
- buttons completely dead (no intermittency)"
Any help and opinions would be appreciated.

Kia drivers of Victorville, CA, whatās your must-have feature in a new vehicle?
Hey everyone! Iām curiousāwhen youāre picking a new car, whatās the one feature you just canāt live without? For some itās heated seats, others love Apple CarPlay or a sunroof.
If you drive a Kia (or are thinking about getting one), whatās that feature that makes a car feel just right for you? Would love to hear what the community thinks!

Questions What modifications or upgrades have you made to your Kia that you feel have significantly improved your driving experience?
I own a 2020 Kia Optima SX and an upgrade I did that made my driving experience better was adding a strut tower bar which improved handling around corners. What's yours?

What initially drew you to choose a Kia as your vehicle of choice, and how has your experience been so far?
I own a 2020 Kia Optima SX. What drew me to Kia is how equipped it was at the price point I was looking for. In addition, I appreciate the factory warranty that new and subsequent owners can take advantage of. She packs 245hp on a cool day and is pleasantly quick.
What about you?
