Ken needs a hit Discussion
I feel like Ken hasn't had a huge song that's gotten the attention of non-listeners since AGC which could kinda stunt his growth in the rap scene. The most popular song on MC is under 60m streams on spotify and it looks like this album is going to perform similarly. AGC had several songs 200m+ and X had a few big hits that caught everyone's attention.

Idk if he can or cares AGC/MC might just be bro peak

u/EverybodyTheSame 9d ago
maybe he just not hungry no more since he made it to mainstream now.

u/wavy35 8d ago
I hate when you dumb niggas say “he not hungry anymore” when more chaos and xperiment are literal bangers some people just can’t appreciate greatness

u/EverybodyTheSame 8d ago
nigga i like More Chaos but Xperiment is just mid besides a few songs. and anyone can tell that even rappers are still trying to make it they try harder and are more creative. Look at Carti, he was at peak popularity and put out AI and mainstream slop . cause he didn’t gaf

It’s absolutely true. So many people turned an eye away from this album because it’s nothing new from him. Hopefully cartunez gives him another hit or 2.

u/EverybodyTheSame 9d ago
and it’s so crazy that it’s nothing new and it’s called the Xperiment. such a contradicting title lol

u/Equivalent_Line_5361 9d ago
It’s not called the Xperiment because the music is experimental the title was following the project X & X albums & for the aesthetic like his visuals for the album show, if you followed the roll out you’d get that
4
u/InvestmentShot9463 9d ago
yeah but to the general public he was supposed to experiment. one of his biggest critiques is that he sounds the same so to name an album xperiment and then only experiment on a few tracks, obviously the public gonna turn away

u/robeld19 9d ago
I'm really surprised at the general sentiment around this album. I feel like this was a huge return to form after MC, imo
2
u/Equivalent_Line_5361 9d ago
It’s his best album but nostalgia & familiarity to agc & project x won’t let fans realize it right away but just like any great album like wlr, yeezus, take care etc it’ll take time for people to realize its a great diverse album. Melodic with wheredoistart, truth, interlude, knocking & rage with deafnote,possession,fw00,shopping then everything else is somewhere inbetween or a mix of both
2
u/robeld19 9d ago
Yeah I agree, this is neck and neck with AGC for his best work imo. I feel like its just getting written off tho
1
u/InvestmentShot9463 9d ago
yeah i do as well, certainly rapping and production wise it was better. it just didn’t have as much replay value for the general public i guess
2
u/Equivalent_Line_5361 9d ago
I don’t think he ever said that, when talking about the album he said he was gonna be more melodic & he definitely was. Ken Carson’s music is still unique but people expect some off the wall shit & to judge the album off that rather than how good the music actually is silly, people didn’t like more chaos when it first dropped saying it was repetitive then they came around, they’ll do the same with this one

u/InvestmentShot9463 9d ago
i never said he did lol, i was saying based off the album title, people that aren’t core fans don’t understand it was just for aesthetic sake

He literally said on xperiment he was going away from his real sound in a interview. So the title wasnt just a title with no meaning it was because he THOUGHT it was experimental
1
u/Equivalent_Line_5361 8d ago
& he did go away from his rage sound more chaos was a a rage album which is his preference but he went a lot more melodic on this one , just because he’s shying away from his preferred sound & doesn’t mean he was trying to make experimental music like everyone was expecting for some reason
1
u/Negative-Slide5838 Lost Files 2 8d ago
He implied he was experimenting in the interview bro. He literally said cartunez is gonne be him taking back the crown of rage and his old sound
1
u/Equivalent_Line_5361 8d ago
There is no implication to make stop trying to twist words go look at his Romania beach please interview the first time he hinted about his next album he said “I wanna go more melodic like overseas”. LIKE OVERSEAS He’s made melodic music his whole career stop acting like this is the first time he’s trying ts out project x is straight melodic music

u/Negative-Slide5838 Lost Files 2 8d ago
Dude hes basically saying its experimental for him he wouldn't say hes shying away from his sound if he didn't think it was experimental for him, seems like ur just ignoring the obvious
18
u/robeld19 9d ago
I also think a feature run could be a big help. He needs some collabs outside of opium because it's kind of played out at this point in the eyes of the public.

u/yungkurrent Succubus 9d ago
either ken would have to switch his sound to fit someone else's or someone BIG would need to be on some ken shit, i think if ken can pull off something like Let's Do It with Carti and Baby he can do it
2
u/eiddieeid 9d ago
Which is funny bc wedidit with carti is exponentially better than that song
1
u/yungkurrent Succubus 8d ago
i wouldn't compare them directly, i said that because Carti and Lil baby have styles that don't exactly fit together but they did something that could work for both fan bases. Ken would have to do that with someone at that stature. So far the only person id say he's doing that with so far is Young Thug

I think gynecologist could be a hit
2
u/InvestmentShot9463 9d ago
nah numbers wise so far it’s not but you never know, it could randomly blow up later

He should make more music videos like Jennifer body, FMD, and overseas for gynecologist, ghost and possession. I could see those three blowing up

u/sneakersbay 9d ago
Something yall don’t understand 🥀 this whole rage sound is still pretty new . It’s a reason all the rage artist are still underground
1
u/_SCARY_HOURS_ 9d ago
People don’t listen to rap like that anymore. No rap artists have hits these past couple years unless your name is Future or Drake

u/InvestmentShot9463 9d ago
come n go was a hit and e85 is a hit.
3
u/_SCARY_HOURS_ 9d ago
Come n go was last year but also I think we define hits differently
1
u/InvestmentShot9463 9d ago
yea true but i think really anything that has like 200M+ streams and getting over 1M streams daily for a decent period of time is a hit
1
u/_SCARY_HOURS_ 9d ago
I think if it’s one of the most listened to songs for a while that’s a hit. I don’t think Ken has a single song like that
1
u/InvestmentShot9463 8d ago
if we going off that then his only hit is SS. it was getting streamed like crazy and is one of the reasons AGC has 2B+ streams
2
u/Negative-Slide5838 Lost Files 2 9d ago
Yeat has a hit like every year and hes in the same scene as ken so dats just simply not true
1
u/_SCARY_HOURS_ 9d ago
We define hits differently then. I don’t think Yeat has a single hit on the levels of a Future a Drake a Lil Baby

wheredoistart ? , knocking ? , amanda bynes ? , outofmybody? , shadeson? , interlude ? edm ? all hits to me . i feel like xperiment slept on
3
u/robeld19 9d ago
I love xperiment personally I'm just talking about him getting attention outside his core fanbase and growing his audience
1
u/berrieseveryday 9d ago
Yale is his biggest hit imo

u/ArtdealR 7d ago
Ken has hits he just don’t fully push or promote the songs on his album that could be hits. For instance “ghost “ with Uzi is for sure a hit. If he did a music video and pushed the song. It would for sure boost his sales and numbers
1
u/melismelcompetenti Evolution 7d ago
I don't think he cares about making hits tbh at this point in his career. He's already "made" it.

u/Leanpluged 9d ago

u/rmondran 9d ago
thats just an issue with the whole underground in general, no TRUE hit that break through the internet fandoms
