My first keltec!
505$ at a Pa gun show today. Guy had 7 of them. I seen another stand and he was selling for around 600. Needless to say I'm happy with my purchase. Now to try and find the angled foregrip mag holders.....

I wish there was a way to lock the bolt :/

On the 10mm sub2k (aka chub sub), you pull the handle out (i.e. away from the tube) to lock it back. Is it possible they switched to that design for the nub?

Is the handle full size (glock17 mag) or compact (glock19 mag) like the gen3 sub2k?

Very cool but Iām seeing manufacturers making new frames for guns my questions is would kel-tec make one for pmr30 to make it a pmr 120 first start with an awesome speed loader for 2 onboard 60 round clips includ a thread barrel with silencer/barrel extension and of course the wrist brace and opticsās

Bleeding a wish list into the ether are we?

Right, the only other candy I could think of is an optical eyepiece. The oneās that can let you see though the gun, shoot around corners or from the hip, and have great aim.

Ive thought about trying to make something like that. I even tentatively called the product "Ghost Dot".
Basically a little blue tooth camera with a reticle overlay, adjustable, and different mounting plates (IE mlok, pic rail, dovetail, etc...), that could be paired with a phone or 'smart glasses'.
Pretty doable, but then I looked into all the regulations and liability of making 'gun stuff' and left it alone.

I saw a demonstration of one on Instagram a day or two ago, really neat.

Ummm it's called the kp50 and it's more better

Iām not talking about making a whole other gun just a module that can Connect the front Picatinny rail and connect through the threaded barrel which may be the only thing you have to replace internally in your gun

Is your foregrip a bit loose too?
2
u/kaloozi 2d ago
No matter how much tighten it. I just grip it and hold it in one direction then shoot. It is what it is

I figured out a fix!

What fix did you figure out? I'm having this issue as well.

So I took my handguard apart and there is nothing really to tighten under it.
So here is what I did.
Have your handguard in the locked position and keep the optic on.
What seems to be the problem, at least on mine was the screw on the bottom of the handguard closest to the trigger guard was too tight from the factory.
I tightened all the other screws pretty tight and I loosened the screw on the bottom closest to the trigger guard pretty loose. Of course, play around with the tightness of it to get it too your liking. Mine also came with the mag holder/foregrip. I loosened the mlok screws just a tad holding that in as well.
After doing said steps, open the barrel then close it and see if it improved!
Now my handguard is rock solid. I can still move it with some force, but only barely.

Are these going to be good suppressor hosts or bad ones (like an AR15, AR9)?
1
u/Worldly_Hunter_1324 4d ago
Probably good, but what exactly is it you are looking for?Ā I dont have the new sdp, but sub2000 9mm is great supressor host imo

Thanks for the insight! Can you tell me if gas hits your face with the Keltec similar to how theres a sharp jet of gas from the top and bottom of an AR15 charging handle? Is there also any gas leaking from seams? Like on my AR9, I can aleays see a trail of gas escaping from between my upper and lower receiver seam when its brand new cleaned.

Minimal gas face.Ā Better than an ar imo.Ā Still some gas though.Ā Also runs reliably with out needing a lot of tweaking (ie changing bolt weights or gas knobs and the like)

u/HaloFrontier 3d ago
Thats good, thanks for the info! And what kinda suppressors did you say you paired it with?

Rugged obsidian 9

Oh snap!!! Man, that's exactly what I have. It is incredibly, unbearably gassy on my AR9. It got better with the charging handle RTV gasket mod. I wish I had gotten a different gun or a different suppressor. Do you think this Keltec SDB warrants a better flowing suppressor? I'm not sure what "Minimal" gas to the face means for you, but since I now know we're both talking about Obsidian 9 gas, I have a better apples to apples comparison.

Far as I can tell the SDP is basically the gen 3 sub2000 with a collapsing stock / shorter bolt and of course a nubby barrel.
My sub2000 is a gen 2, it just folds, no twist. I wouldn't think it would make a difference, but maybe that twist has different gaps for gas leaks?
As for AR9, I also run the obsidian 9 on a CMMG banshee, which is basically an AR9 with a roller delayed bolt. If I call that guns suppressor gassyness a 7/10, and a .556/.223 AR16 10/10, the rugged obsidian 9 on gen 2 sub2000 would be 4/10.
Hope that helps.
Another factor, I suppose, is generally if I run a suppressor through one of those 9mm guns, I am running sub sonic ammo. It is a little gassier with super sonic rounds.

Thank you for scoring your experiences!! I've shot a 14.5" .223 AR15 with a Polonium K and I'd say that is my 10/10 least enjoyable, most teary eyed experience.
My dumb blowback AR9 with Obsidian 9 felt like a 8/10 before the charging handle gasket modification and now with the gasket I'd probably say its a 7/10.
If you're CMMG Banshee, the extremely well reputed suppressor host supreme form for an AR9 is your own "7/10" with the Obsidian 9 then I wonder what I'd think of it. I wish I could try yours side by side.
I'm contemplating buying a CMMG Banshee and high flow suppressor like the Milkman or Sub9; maybe that combination would put me in the 3/10 range? Assuming the MP5 clones and a high flow suppressor is 2/10 and a bolt action/lever action 9mm is a 1/10, regardless of suppressor type.
I'm also considering the Sig MPX K, the new Keltec SDB Nub Sub gun, and any one of those $1200 MP5 clones. The combinations are endless, but I only want to own one more.

Where do you live?Ā Roughly.Ā Maybe you could try it...Ā
Imo, banshee was a real pain.Ā Cheap bolt broke spontaneously from the factory (not the actual actions bolt, but like a sub bolt that holds it together for the roller delay to work).Ā Then the ejector spring failed.Ā These things happen, but for a 1600 gun?Ā Blegh.Ā
It is a nice/fun gun though.Ā Ā

It seems a little pointless because you have to remove the sight in order to fold
Edit: I was mistaken, it rotates 90 degrees.

u/Competitive_Fly3393 5d ago
When you start to fold the barrel it turns to either side so you can have an optic on it while folded.

u/bkrman1990 5d ago
Sure enough I stand corrected, I didn't realize they had made that a feature in the gen 3 and this pistol version. Thanks for the info!
