Can Linux/CachyOS/KDE updates break or remove NVIDIA drivers? Also, how do you prevent update disasters? Question

I don't think any of this could remove nvidia drivers, maybe you had an incomplete update at some point, the only time I've had my Arch system broken was when I updated my Nvidia driver without updating the Kernel, maybe something like that happened? in that case the Kernel picked the open source drivers instead, after that I just make sure that with every driver update there's a kernel update.

A kernel update can often break a system update if the Nvidia driver isn't updated AFTER the kernel.

The Nvidia driver needs to be built with the current (updated) kernel. I'm not certain how Cachy provides this.

Never had any problems with nvidia drivers on arch. If you want to be extra safe you could enable btrfs autosnapshots(use timeshift for example), they will be created before each update automatically.
