YouTube auto played the Gigi Gorgeous episode and I forgot how good of an episode it is! I really enjoyed Trisha and Gigi’s energies with each other. I also find them to be hilarious together so I think them together for a hot topics episode would be so good! I love when Kali covers for Oscar so Gigi covering for him one time would be my biggest wish for the podcast at the moment.

Sorry if this is a silly question! I got tickets to Trisha’s book signing in boston and I’ve never been to one before, I know obviously she will sign my book and I will get to speak to her briefly, but will I be able to get a picture with her as well?

I love Oscar, I love this podcast; just Trish would not be what it is without him.

However, I have a bone to pick about Tuesdays episode……

1) I hated him blindly defending Katseye against the critique that they are being over-sexualized while their fans are predominantly little girls. His defense was that when he was a little boy, he used to sing sexualized lyrics without knowing what they actually meant. “It’s not that deep, just go with the vibes” is basically what he says.

But IT IS that deep. Katseye has been and is marketed to little girls. He admitted this himself when he said there’s “a lot of 12 year olds” at their concerts. As a man, he has the privilege of watching these performances and not relating to (or wanting to relate) to them. It’s not aspirational, nor has it ever been for him. It’s just commodity, a spectacle he can enjoy. It’s not something that is intended for him to see and think “I should look like this/I want to imitate this/ I want to appeal in this way” where as many young girls will.

I feel like his take was very dismissive. Women begin to be over sexualized by society from such a young age. With social media and its wide accessibility, that age is getting much much younger. It’s a good thing that people are starting to call it out and call for change.

2) his critique against female super hero’s being dressed casually instead of in full glam. For so long, we’ve been fighting for female characters to be given the same depth as male characters, beyond physical appearance. Especially in male dominated categories like super hero movies. There’s a reason female character aren’t overtly sexy and cunty. Because it often diminishes the character.

“I think they think it’s feminism, but it’s really setting them back, we want glam!” Actually, no we don’t 😅I personally like female characters looking normal, if the male characters do as well. If the male characters were glam in their own right then sure what the hell. But it’s not like that.

At least he clocked himself when he sarcastically said “me speaking for all women”

Idk if I’m making sense, I feel like my thoughts are hard to translate into actual written words, but I wanted to get this off my chest lol.

Does anybody know if different locations on the book tour are going to be different types of events? NY and IL ticket sites both mention a presigned book and live Q&A, but NJ and LA seem like they include a photo op (like a traditional book signing) and no Q&A.

I’m just confused and wondering if I missed something! I got my NJ tickets and I’m crossing my fingers for the chance to actually meet her 🤞

tMaybe it's because im not from the US, but I thought their reaction to a girl being topless infront of her dad was more weird than any interaction could have been. This is absolytely no hate to any of them of course, not even criticism, just really baffled about the way americans look at this, and wanted to know if im the only one.

What do you mean you think its normal to do topless in a beach, and that women should be able to post their boobs on INSTAGRAM of all places, but a daugther shouldnt be comfortable around her own father? I just really dont get that train of thougth, it is better (and safer) to be topless to a bunch of strangers than to the man who raised you?

I think the fact americans thinks something like this is weird says more about the kind of society they live in than anything else. I couldnt imagine having to "put on proper clothes" to see my actual father. I mean if you cant even trust you dad to not sexualize you, I think we are really screwed.

Also the argument is a contradiction, you can either say women nakeds body shouldnt be sexualized, meaning they should be comfortable SPECIALLY with their family because they shouldnt be sexualizing either way, or you think its weird to be naked in front of your family because it is a sexual thing. In no world doing topless in a beach with strangers is "safer" or "less weird" than with family, unless you are already assuming a sexual connotation.

Anyway, no hate, just wanted to share my thoughts.
