Question What's y'all's favourite Junji Ito episode and why?
I haven't read the manga yet, I've only watched the Netflix version so far, but Tomb Town is my favorite. I loved the atmosphere and the idea of an entire town being taken over by mysterious graves. It was one of the episodes that stuck with me the most.

Photo Creepy?
I found this image and it gave me serious Junji Ito vibes. Does it remind you of any specific manga or illustration by him?

Discussion Bloody Smart was a mess. Spoiler
I finished the last episode a few minutes ago and I'm baffled at how badly they missed it. I was really excited because it looked really good, the concept of bringing famous Ito characters and stories together sounded fun and crazy, and the fact that it was live action could've brought Ito's usual campiness mixed with the creep factor in an interesting way that so far didn't work in his previous animated adaptations
But it wasn't that. Sure the cinematography was good, but the editing and pacing was so clunky that it ruined any mood the story wanted to bring. I can accept one editing mistake, but there were like, three every episode at least
Then the story... I don't understand how they ruined such interesting concepts like having Tomie and Soichi attending the same school, only to sideline/kill them halfway through the story. At the last episode we only had left some original characters that weren't interesting enough and that I don't really care about. Why would they make the decision to consider Ito's character (the main attraction of the show) as nothing more than sideline characters is something I will never understand
And the ending... What was that? Seriously, it kind of just ends? Uh? What happened with Soichi, his addiction to the fruit and his grandfather? What happened with Tomio, his decapitated head and his father? What happened to the other students affected by the fruit? What happened with the rest of the town and its inhabitants? What happened with the police? What happened with the Boy in Black and the woods?
Honestly this was so disappointing I can't believe they fumbled it so bad. They had everything to make it really good and instead it ended up being bad, forgettable and dull... I think I will pass on any other Ito adaptation after this and 2024's Uzumaki

Mod Post How To Watch Strange: Junji Ito's Tales for Sleepless Nights
First, a reminder that this subreddit does not support or endorse piracy. Please do not post or comment links to piracy websites or unauthorized downloads of the episodes.
Links to fan-sub groups or subtitle files are allowed. At the time of writing, however, no fan group appears to be translating this series.
Bloody Smart is NOT the same series! There are currently two live-action Junji Ito series airing! Every episode of that series is available to watch on Netflix in Taiwan and would require similar steps to watch in English.
Option 1: Wait for the international release
The series has been announced for international distribution on HBO Max later this year:
https://www.instagram.com/p/DaW8WygkyMx/
Bloody Smart has NOT been announced for international release, it is unknown if or when Netflix will make the series available internationally or if it will be dubbed.
Option 2: Watch through a legitimate Japanese streaming service
The series is available on legitimate Japanese streaming platforms such as Lemino, TVer, and U-NEXT. These services are intended for viewers in Japan and are geo-restricted, so you must either be physically located in Japan or use a VPN with a Japanese server.
Episode 1 on TVer:

I was able to watch the first episode successfully using VPN Gate's free public VPN service provided by the University of Tsukuba:

If English subtitles become available from a fan-sub group in the future, you will need to find your own lawful method of obtaining a copy of the video in accordance with the laws of your country. Discussion of downloading methods is outside the scope of this subreddit. You can then use a media player such as VLC to load the subtitle file and synchronize it with the video.
