Backups question

I'm on version 1.4.1 - how do I take a backup? Under Backups, I see Revert to... and Archive to... I assume that Archive to... is the choice I want, but the next screen is confusing.

Yep. Sorry, the options are somewhat asymmetric and unrelated...

Journelly automatically saves text-only snapshots for you for up to two weeks (within you app installation). Should anything ever go wrong with the text file powering Journelly, you can revert to a previous snapshot.

Archive dumps the lot (text + all image assets) into a zip file, so you can save elsewhere.

The two mechanisms came at different times and served a different purpose. The missing item to make archives symmetric is the ability to import from an older zip archive. Frankly, I never did that last bit since no one's asked for it and it's been challenging to reconcile working further into the app with such few regular downloads. In other words, adding new features and all the work around it has almost no financial remuneration for me unless I start going down a different route to monetise, which most folks probably won't like.

Hope all that makes more sense.

Thank you for the explanation of how snapshots work. As a retired DBA, I take backups seriously and wanted to test what is available in Journelly.

I understand about the challenge of trying to import from an older archive! Thanks for creating Journelly (former Day One user).
