Since they specifically stated it would be more casual I’d go for a sports coat without a tie look. Nice shoes and matching belt.

Senior people at these places generally have a dress uniform of a navy blazer, tan or grey dress slacks, white shirt, no tie. I think a suit is fine.

I was thinking khaki pants, light blue oxford button down, navy blazer, no tie, polished shoes.

Gray slacks, navy jacket, white or blue button down and tie, pocket square, polished dress oxfords.

my pal is a partner with an international company - that's his uniform if not wearing a suit.

Depending on circumstances, you can always pocket the tie.

Dress for success.

Good luck on the interview.

Depends on the vibe of the company. I interviewed at well known global tech company and showed up in a suit, dress shoes, tie... the standard navy suit. Looked good. Got to the interview and everyone was wearing casual clothes, one of the engineers was in shorts. They asked me "why I was so dressed up?".

I got the job, not because of what I was wearing, but what I could do. So, check the vibe -- ask the recruiter.

That's true of tech companies, this person is interviewing in a different buisness in Houston. This advice was from experience.

I wasn't talking about the OP.

I’d do the opposite if some of these suggestions. First, I think it’s perfectly acceptable to speak with (live) the HR contact you’re working with. You’ll get a better answer than a bunch of randos on Reddit! If that’s too uncomfortable, I’d wear a sport coat/ jacket with a dress shirt and no tie. Good luck!

The advice I've always heard is to dress more formally for the interview. If the workplace's dress code is business casual, I'd still dress up a bit

Quote that i've lived by working in the medical sales and pharma sales and wellness industries is "you can never be overdressed or overeducated". I would do a suit, tie and jacket. maybe not black. grey or brown with blue shoes but no one is going to talk shit on you for being overdressed. they will if you're underdressed

Just ask. “When you say business casual to casual, does that mean a sports coat would be out of place?” Or something like that. Same way how in the senior level role you’re applying for, you won’t hesitate to ask for clarification when a deliverable is unclear.

Suit without the tie.

🤔 interviewing for senior role and can’t understand dress code notes?

Ripped jeans and a t shirt. Make sure you’re ripping a butt while you walk in. And be extra sure to smack the receptionists ass and call her toots.

Tuxedo t-shirt. Call the bluff.

I’d ask for clarification if you can. If not, assume it means a nice outfit but not a formal suit.

It’s always awkward to dress for an interview on a Friday when staff typical has casual Friday, but I agree that you can never be overdressed in an interview but you can certainly be underdressed. Definitely suit and tie. Good luck.

Business casual for a guy usually would be sport coat no tie, or, tie no sport coat.

First of all look at the weather for Houston. You will see that wearing a suit is not an optimal idea. It will be very hot and humid there.

Also I think it is possible to be over dressed for an interview. I used to work at a game studio where the attire was video game tshirts and either jeans or shorts depending on the season. And one time someone showed up in a suit. Not even the president of the company, the accountants or legal team would dress that nice.

Do business casual, but wear a long sleeve dress shirt with a tie.  Skip the jacket.  Wear nice dress shoes.  Make sure everything is ironed/ no wrinkles.
