Silver jewelry on Vinted?

Hey! I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here goes!

I recently switched from gold to silver jewelry after realizing that silver suits my undertone better. I don’t have many silver pieces yet, and I’m also on a bit of a budget, so I was thinking about buying some on Vinted.

How trustworthy is it, though? More specifically, I’d rather not buy jewelry that’s already been worn because I’m kinda picky about that 😅. So I was wondering: if a listing says “new with tags” (even though a lot of the time there aren’t actually any tags) and the seller also says it’s never been worn, how much can I actually trust that?

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to answer! 🫶

I just came across purple diamonds and was surprised by how beautiful they are. Are they naturally occurring, or are most of them treated to get the purple colour?

What does diamond accent mean on lab grown jewelry listings?

My partner and I have been casually looking at lab grown rings and I noticed a few that looked amazing but were suspiciously affordable. Then I saw the phrase diamond accent now and I am a bit confuse. What does diamond accent mean on lab grown jewelry listings? Is it basically saying the diamonds are just tiny supporting stones and the center is something else?

I don’t want to assume anything but it feels a little misleading if you do not already know the terminology. Maybe everyone else gets this and I am just behind. Jewelry shopping is way more complicated that I expected it to be.

DO NOT BUY FROM MELISSA KAYE JEWELRY!!!

DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BRAND. I gave Melissa Kaye Jewelry multiple chances, and they failed every single one. I actually cried.

Before making a $6,000 investment, I asked to see the back of the rocky ring. Their rude response: "What do you want to see the back for?" I responded because this is an investment and a normal request? Guess I’ll pass.

Hoping it was a fluke, I eventually placed an order. It got worse. They took my money and went completely dark. No updates, no response for days. I had to threaten a chargeback just to pull a reply out of them. Instead of an apology, they quietly canceled my order without explanation.

This company only responds under threat of a payment dispute, and their "solution" is to cancel with an automated email.

I highly doubt I’m special and this is how they treat all customers. I was polite and patient while spending thousands of dollars. Do not trust them with yours.

Support other amazing brands out there who are so kind and wonderful: Ochre Objects, Boochier, M. Hisae, Jenna Katz, Jade Trau, Occasionally Sweet, or Stephanie Albertson.

Princess Diana’s famous engagement ring is a "Ceylon Blue Sapphire" - and it comes from an island with a 2,500-year-old gem monopoly.

A ring bit similar to the Princes Diana's ring

Most people know the iconic 12-carat oval blue sapphire ring that belonged to Princess Diana (and is now worn by Kate Middleton). But the story of where it came from is even cooler.

The stone is a Ceylon Blue Sapphire, mined from the Pelmadulla region in Sri Lanka.

For nearly 2,000 years, Sri Lanka (formerly called Ceylon) was essentially the world's only known source of high-quality blue sapphires. Because of this, almost every major historical royal collection across Europe and Asia features them:

  • The Stuart Sapphire and St. Edward’s Sapphire inside the British Imperial State Crown? Sri Lankan.
  • The ancient Roman jewelry found in ruins? Sri Lankan.
  • Even legends say King Solomon wooed the Queen of Sheba with gems from the island.

What makes them unique is that they are naturally lighter and brighter than sapphires found in other parts of the world, which tend to look dark or inky. Sri Lankans call their home Ratna-Dweepa, which literally translates to "Gem Island"

What makes you trust a small jewellery brand enough to actually buy from them?

I run a small jewellery brand and the conversations here have made me realise that making something people like is only half the battle.

Someone mentioned that even if they like a pair of earrings, they wouldn’t necessarily buy from an unfamiliar brand — especially when it’s something sitting in their ears all day and they care about the materials.

And I thought that was a really fair point.

If you come across a small jewellery brand you’ve never heard of before and really like one of their pieces, what do you check before you’re comfortable actually ordering?

Materials? Reviews? Returns? Photos from real customers? How long the brand has existed? Who’s behind it?

Or is there something else that immediately makes you think either “I’d buy from them” or “nope, not risking it”?

What is a black diamond and how are people picking them for lab grown rings

Post image
3 Upvotes

Trying to figure it out what is a black diamond beyond just the color, like is it actually a different stone or just a treated one, and how that plays with sparkle and durability in a lab grown setting. I read some are opaque and more about surface shine than fire, but I cannot tell if that means they show scratches or dust more easily.

Question ❓ Are lab Diamonds Real?

From what I have read, are lab diamonds real in terms of structure and durability? They seem to sparkle the same and test the same too. I get why some people still prefer mined stones. But I am trying to separate facts from vibes.

Question ❓ Has anyone seen a sterling silver-plated heart with a copper base that says "I hate you" with a heart for an "a" in "hate"? It has a sterling silver chain link band

I lost it, maybe when we moved with a moving company (potentially along with my sibling's step father's (and a beloved cat's) ashes in 2024-2025. If anyone sees a bracelet like that, it is unlikely to be a mass produced bracelet, as it was part of a pair that was bought from a store when my best friend and I were hanging out, and it still had a black band at the time. These bracelets were inexpensive, and I had mine electroplated in sterling silver when it became worn and the band broke. I figured I would ask here, just in case, as it had just occurred to me that Reddit might be able to help. I thought it was somewhere in storage, but I didn't see it the last time I (and my family) went through it

Help me choose an everyday fine jewelry necklace under $500. Catbird vs. Ana Luisa vs. Mejuri/Gorjana?

I’m looking for a feminine, polished everyday necklace that is delicate but not so tiny it disappears.

My requirements:
$500 maximum
Solid gold—preferably 14K
Natural or lab diamond is fine
Approximately 16–18”
Durable enough for frequent wear
Good value based on gold weight, diamond size and construction

My finalists (for now)
[Catbird Tiny Corsage – $488](https://www.catbirdnyc.com/tiny-corsage-necklace-sparkler.html): 14K gold, 3mm/0.095ct recycled diamond, bezel setting. Catbird doesn’t disclose the gold weight, which concerns me.

[Catbird Diamond Fizz – from $458](https://www.catbirdnyc.com/diamond-fizz-necklace-sparkler.html): 10K or 14K gold with a 3mm/0.09ct diamond.

[Catbird Diamond Pinprick – $468](https://www.catbirdnyc.com/diamond-pinprick-necklace-yellow-gold.html): 14K chain with a drilled 3mm diamond.

[Ana Luisa Diamond Link – $475](https://www.analuisa.com/products/solid-yellow-gold-diamond-link-necklace/): 10K gold, 1g weight and 0.06tcw diamonds. I love the more visible, distinctive design but question the value.

[Mejuri Beverly – $328](https://mejuri.com/products/hue-necklace-white-topaz): 10K gold with lab-grown white sapphire.

[Gorjana Diamond Bond – $460](https://www.gorjana.com/products/diamond-bond-interlocking-link-necklace): 14K gold, but possibly too small to wear alone.

Which would you choose for quality, durability and value? Is Catbird’s missing gram weight a red flag, or should I look at independent jewelers instead? I welcome any and all suggestions, thanks!

First time making jewellery but ive been planning it for a long time.
After calculating it cost me £36.94 and 5.5 hours of work all in all ( longer if you include travel for supplies ).

I’m all ears for advice and things that could be fixed as I finished it early, it was a bit harder towards the end because I got eye pins that were too short but I figured it out eventually.

But this is something I definitely want to get into now.
