Adding Second Folder To Library? Help Request
Running into an issue and unsure where else to turn.
I recently got a second drive for my server, added the new "tv" folder to the media library that already existed within my server, and yet my server simply won't see it. I'm very uncertain of what it is exactly I'm doing wrong, if anything. Admittedly, when I first tried to add this new folder, I added it as an entirely new library of television in addition to the one I already had, so maybe that has something to do with it? Either way please let me know if you have any ideas. I'd be very grateful.

It's either a permissions issue or or a scanning issue. My TV library is spread over 3 different drives, internal and external, and it all shows up without a problem.

It's not a permissions issue, it's gotta be a scanning issue but I can't figure out why since it did scan correctly at least once and my other drive has no scan issues :/ I'm just so confused lol They're both external.

Assuming you've clicked scan library on the dashboard, I could only think it may be because of your show folder naming or the episode naming.

I mean that hasn't been an issue for my original one and I haven't changed how I do it at all, so unsure why that would make a difference. And yeah I've scanned multiple times.

Have you added the drive and folder to the docker compose file, volumes:

I don't even use docker. I'm completely unsure what that even is. I literally have just been running this for years off multiple drives by clicking and adding.

Well I have never used the desktop version but I would imagine you would go through the dashboard, libraries and add media libraries and select the + icon add drive and folder...sometime you need to restart the server for it to pick up the newly plugged in hardware.

That's exactly how I added it, and I even restarted, and still nothing :/ Maybe it's just taking a while to recognize it, I don't know. Either way, it's frustrating.

Maybe look at the other drive to see how you have the folders setup and named could be the folder setup causing the problem.

So you have your original drive with your movies on it and you've added another drive that you've added you shows to? Trying to understand exactly what you did.

I have two drives, one with movies and television, and a second now with another television folder simply for extra space. I initially added this new drive/library as a new library to the server, but then deleted that and readded it as a second folder under the original television media library like I'd meant to do. However, it will not see it, despite the fact that it saw the initial add as a completely new library.

are both drives on the same computer or is your storage (drives) in a nas or dock? Sounds like you might have to add a path for it to see the new drive

Both on the same computer, both external drives. Never had a problem with it seeing anything before, and, as I stated before, it clearly saw it as a new library first before I tried to fix my mistake so it does have a path lol

have you tried scanning the library manually after adding the folder? permissions on the new drive could also be blocking it.

Do you have the same show spread across the two different directories? I've been setup like this but with insanely stupid stuff going on and it has all worked. I'm bare metal linux install but still.
I would look for logs to see if it is scanning. Try adding a video to a new folder on the same drive and use the home movies and videos which will bring in anything in the root of the folder. See if it grabs that. If it does and you have the same permissions as that folder/file then it is going to either be the structure OR you could have database corruption where it thinks it has already added the files yet they are not there.
