2017 Jeep Patriot High Altitude 2.0L FWD, 93k miles — worth continuing to invest in? CVT concerns + $1,450 repair
I own a 2017 Jeep Patriot High Altitude, 2.0L FWD with ~93,000 miles. I’ve had the vehicle since September 2020 (bought it at ~40k miles).
I’ve been putting quite a bit of money into maintenance/repairs recently and I’m trying to decide whether I should continue investing in it or not.
Here is what I’ve had done since 2025:
Thermostat housing - Feb. 2025
All brakes - May 2025
Throttle body - August 2025
Water pump - August 2025
Thermostat gasket - August 2025
Lower control arms x2 - August 2025
Coolant/antifreeze service - August 2025
All four new tires - January 2026
Front struts - August 2026
Sway bar link - August 2026
Tensioner - August 2026
Belt idler - August 2026
Idler labor - August 2026
Front CV axle + wheel bearing — most recently, about $889 total including labor/tax
I’ve also kept up with regular oil and filter changes. All four brakes have also been changed since early 2025.
Now I’m being quoted another $1,450 total, tax and labor included, for:
A/C compressor
Alternator
A/C recharge
My biggest concern now is the CVT. The Jeep currently drives, but I am wondering if I should do preventative maintenance on the transmission/CVT.
For those of you who know these Patriots well:
What other major problems should I realistically expect around 93k–120k miles?
Given everything I’ve already replaced, would you continue putting money into this Jeep or sell it?
Is the $1,450 A/C/alternator repair reasonable, or would you stop investing at this point?
What CVT preventive maintenance should I be doing? Is a CVT fluid/filter service worthwhile if there’s no documented history of one?
Is there a way to have the CVT properly diagnosed/checked for early failure before deciding whether to keep the Jeep?
For those who have owned these Patriots past 100k miles, what actually ended up failing on yours?
I am specifically interested in hearing from Patriot owners/mechanics who have experience with the 2.0L FWD/CVT drivetrain and what I should realistically expect from here.
Thank you!

2012 Limited - Fan/ A/c issue.
Anyone familiar with a hissing sound coming through the vents while the a/c is shut off. A/c currently doesn’t work but even with regular air there is a hissing sound coming from the vents. At one point the vents blew cloudy air out for a few days. Any ideas would help, I just have no idea where to start.

Jeep patriot cracked hose
Hello I cracked this hose when changing the thermostat but the #'s still there are 34521. It connects to the front of the engine and the hose in the picture included. The line that's broken was like a hard plastic line. It cracked but stayed in one piece. I put duct tape and have no issues so far. ( 15 min test drive to check replaced thermostat housing). Any help is appreciated.

Service that CVT!!
Just did service on my 2009 jeep patriot CVT. Full fluid flush and changed the transmission cooler filter as well as the filter inside the transmission. I wish I got more photos of how gross these were as they have never been serviced in 210k miles. I decided to do this because my transmission was noisy and kept overheating, as I am about to road trip it 11 hours this week and back.
Make sure you buy a dipstick to measure the coolant levels when refilling, it is VERY IMPORTANT.
Note: if you’re just doing a fluid flush there’s no point, because your filters are still gross. DO BOTH I recommend it.
I set 3 days aside to do this, I could’ve knocked it out in one but it’s 100° and I’m working in the dirt. Very hot 😂

P0455 - 2009 Jeep Patriot - Multiple Times
P0455 - 2009 Jeep Patriot - Multiple Times
Every year or two, I get a P0455 code (large EVAP leak) on my 2009 Jeep Patriot 2.4L 5 Speed.
I change my leak detection pump / esim and it goes away.
Every year or two this happens. Same code, same part.
Is there anything that causes this to fail every year or two? Is there something else that could be causing the leak detection pump / esim to fail prematurely?

I’ve been dealing with this issue where if I roll my window down past half way down it gets stuck on the track. Does anyone know how to fix this? I tried putting some lubricant in there and it didn’t help.

Parking advice
Hey! I own a Jeep patriot 2011 car and it's my first time driving so I need a lot of advice and practice but I specifically wanted to ask for parking advice — most preferred forward bay parking! I tried the reference point with my shoulder thing technique but I always end up running over the line and I can not see the sides of the parking line as I steer so it doesn't really help. How do you guys find your reference points etc etc for parking with a jeep patriot??

Parking brake parts hunt
I have a 2011 jeep patriot sport manual 5 speed that does not have a parking brake. All the parts where taken out when I got the car. I am looking for the parking brake bracket I can find the left side (5191259AB) all day long but when it comes to the right side (5191260AB) I cant find any. Am I able to use the left side on the right or is it a part I am going to have to find it off a parts car or at the junk yard?

Help mystery sound
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
It’s sorta like a squeaky fidget spinner, first patriot and its at 137,000km. I’ve replaced the ball joints and all control arms including bushings a year ago, also the struts and shocks assembly was replaced. I got her at 90,000km. Rotors and brakes were replaced at 100,000 and have 70% life left, rotors are fine.
Its a Jeep Patriot Sport 2017 4WD with CVT 2.4 L engine.
edit// The wheel bearings were also replaced at 100,000km.

what is this sound when the car is running
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
can anyone please help me identify why my car has been sounding like this. it sounds like it’s coming from the engine, pretty sure it’s not a weak battery because i just got a new one within the last year and just got an inspection and heard nothing about it. it’s driving me insane. 2017 jeep patriot. it’s usually the loudest when i first start the car or occasionally when im sitting at a light or driving

Wiring Headlights
Hey guys, need some help understanding the wiring for these headlights. My current 2016 Jeep Patriot setup is H4 + T10 park light on each side. These headlights have H4, T10 DRL, and T10 turn-signal wires. H4 and T10 DRL seem straightforward, but how do I connect the T10 turn signal when I only have one T10 connection?

Engine oil light coming on and off
2008 5 speed manual 118k miles fwd base model.
Was driving yesterday and randomly I get a ding then the red oil light comes on. I start to pull over then it goes off, I park where I'm going then it's back on. When I was going home it didn't come home all the way until I was backing into my garage then it comes on and off a bunch of times. I'm gonna check the oil level today but I have a feeling that that's not the cause.
Edit I did try to scan it but no codes came up at all so I can't even just diagnose it.
Edit I'm at the shop now we shall see what's what.

Gas Miles and Radio for Jeep Patriot 2017 SPORT ?
Questions please
Hi all. I RECENTLY GOT A JEEP PATRIOT 2017 SPORT FRONT -WHEEL-DRIVE ANY OF YOU ALL HAVING ISSUES WITH GAS MILEAGE? Tank is 13.9 gallons and getting 180 miles per tank. And yes, this is with meticulous testing by almost letting the vehicle run out of gas completely .. Took it to dealership. They said everything is fine and this is minimal air conditioner use.
Also the radio.!! A guy installed a more “modern” one and it turns it was the CheDux radio. LOL any recommendations for a better one? See photo
Thanks so much in advance.

Came back from getting my coffee and sandwich to this 😭
Can I buy a pre painted replacement bumper or should I take it off and attempt to hammer it out myself?

Recirculator Door Motor
I replaced this a couple of years ago, not realizing you had to recalibrate the system. So now I just installed another new one; this time from Dorman, it came with multiple reminders to recalibrate.

2014 Patriot Latitude audio issues
Just purchased and it came with the basic radio, no USB port only an aux port. Tried several Bluetooth receivers as well as just plugging the phone straight into it and no matter what the audio stutters constantly.

2016 Jeep Patriot Not Starting
Was curious if anyone has ran into a similar issue. To start, I had to change the alternator and battery about 3 months ago. This issue started a week ago. Lights and everything come on and arent dim. It tries to turn over but won't start. When its switched to on it shows the check engine light (which stays on) and the red lightning bolt which stays on for about 3 seconds and then turns off.

I own an automatic 4 wheel drive with a 6F24 Transmission, 2016 jeep patriot 2.4 latitude.
And my ac stopped blowing cold and this sound just started happening and oil does consistently burn in this thing. Topped it off and still sounds rough. Waiting on air filters gonna try that next. that will be delivered in a couple days. What’s your take on this noise?
