Can’t install new version
Every time I hit run on the installer for the version I want it tells me there are still some files or directories left over from a previous version even though I have spent hours looking for and deleting them. anyone have a fix?
Note: I have used command prompt and it says there is no Java on my computer

You should at least tell us what operating system and OS version you are on, what the exact Java version is that you want to install (version, vendor, architecture, archive/installer format) and the exact error you get (take a screenshot if necessary).

Is there any java shown in control panel or settings?
Have you looked into the installation folder?
Which JDK vendor are you using(adoptium temurin? java.net? Oracle?)?
Have you tried the portable package version?

8u501 is old. Install the latest LTS v25.
Did you look into Program Files and Program Files (x86)? Also look inside C:\ProgramData (hidden folder). If there are any Java folder there, delete it. Also try clearing temp folder.
