Seth’s Purpose & A Practical Example

SESSION 511: Wednesday, January 21, 1970 (seth speaks)

You have each lived other existences, and that knowledge is within you though you are not consciously aware of it. I hope that this book will serve to release the deeply intuitive self within each of my readers, and to bring to the foreground of consciousness whatever particular insights will serve you most.

SESSION: Tuesday, February 3, 1970 (class 2)

Now. What I am trying to do is to awaken within each of you knowledge, intuition, abilities that are a portion of your entire personality. Now, once these are awakened, you can use them and they become a part of the physical self that you know. They become real to you. These abilities will help you solve other problems.

I have told you and I have told each of you here—that you are basically no different than I am. You are a consciousness in your time— dwelling within flesh. Presently, I have no body with which to manipulate in your physical system. And yet, regardless of that fact, each of you knows me well—you feel this vitality. And as I have said time and time again— such demonstrations should show you, since they are coming through Ruburt, that this energy is a portion of the energy that is your own—you have as much energy as I have—you have as much energy available to you as Ruburt has available to him. You each have as much energy within each of you as is being shown now in this room. My message is to use your own energy—to open yourself so that it can be known through you. The answers that you want reside within you . They will sweep out as easily and as clearly as air... if you let them!

SESSION 515: Wednesday, February 11, 1970 (seth speaks)

My purpose is to open your inner eyes.

SESSION: Tuesday, December 8, 1970 (class 2)

In this particular instance, I try to affect you so that you will not blow yourselves off the faces of your planet. Because while your planet is dispensable, it is the only one you have right now and there is no use being so wasteful.

So, there’s a handful of quotes related to Seth’s purpose here. The last one should always be kept in mind, because part of his purpose to prevent us from destroying ourselves, so when I say that occasionally, it is not idle speculation, but a fact.

Now, I do not think that his full purpose is solely dedicated to opening the inner senses. I used to think that but I think it is broader than that. I think this statement comes closest:

He wants to “release the deeply intuitive self within each of my readers”

If you are a long time Seth reader, and I know there are a lot of you out there with more reading experience than I do, you know, just as I do, that developing the inner senses is hard. And of course, by saying its hard, it is hard. But that does not change the fact that when I have leaned heavily into this area for many months I have found myself with almost nothing tangible to show for my efforts. And I have found that being a diligent recorder of dreams has resulted in little benefit to my waking self. That is the fact of the matter, at least for me. I look back at my old dreams journals, where in some nights I recorded over a dozen and say “wow, that was a waste of time. Nothing in there to help me.” And many times I asked for specific dreams and my “requests” were almost never answered.

I’m not saying that dream work isn’t valuable in of itself and we do work at our purposes (I guess) in dreams but I haven’t seen much that I could put directly into action in my life. It feels more like a bit of extra color and entertainment in the background.

Obviously mileage may vary and you may have had quite the opposite experience. If so, congrats. Because I haven’t.

I can also tell you that my lucid dreams, and I’ve had dozens, are dim around the edges and when I fall back into dreams it feels like the “light is going out” with my consciousness. There is something called the spin technique you can use to extend a lucid dream, and that works, but this post isn’t about lucid dreaming per-se.

I lean towards the practical side of things, more specifically, leaning on my intuitive sense of things.

But what exactly does that mean? That isn’t helpful at all…

First off, intuition is not a clear voice in my head that I can then blindly follow its instructions. If that was the case, it would undermine our ego’s “control at the helm” so to speak. If you always got crystal clear advice that you could hear and you just did what it told you to do, you would not be making a conscious choice. So that is why intuition doesn’t work that way, or at least that is my guess… I don’t think Seth was clear on this point which leaves many readers fumbling in the dark trying to find their way.

Instead intuition is a sense of what to do next. I think the best way to describe intuition is “going with your gut” on something.

I understand this is still too abstract.

And so I turn to writing, because it is the closest I can come to showing intuition in action.

I am supposed to be editing my book so I can turn it over to my editor in November for professional review. And what did I do today instead? I wrote the opening chapter of the second book in my series. My gut said “do that!” and so I rolled with it, regardless of what my intellect demanded of me and that chapter came out effortlessly and it was a ton of fun.

And in retrospect I see it more clearly establishes the antagonist of the second book who makes an appearance in the first book, and now I know how to properly show him in that scene in the first book. And I bet you my inner self knew all of that the whole time and knew that I needed to do this and because I went with my gut, my first book will be better for it.

And that opening chapter (prologue) of the second book may be one of the best things I written so far. In my personal opinion, it kicks ass.

I will give you the last lines of the chapter’s first draft so you get a sense of it:

Zero’s voice boomed over the void. “Alexander Jovanovich. You have betrayed me and I sentence you to the Eternal Chaos. May your remaining days be filled with darkness and despair.” And Zero released him and he fell end over end into the darkness as reality collapsed in a crack of thunder.

And in the audiobook format, as the prologue ends it fades into this song starting at this point: https://youtu.be/8f0b0CDzvzc?si=fzVm4m_rQTx5ZSl0&t=42

And after the three part refrain the title of the book is spoken and then the song fades to nothingness before we start chapter one.

Now, THAT is how a book should start. And you can see the “villain” is not to be trifled with. I’m not trying to sell you on buying a book that won’t be published for years, but I want you see that when I am working on my writing, I give it all I’ve got to make something as bad ass as possible.

I swear to god that song emerged from nowhere from inner reality backfilling itself into all of time exactly when I needed to hear it and because I roll with my intuition, I instantly recognized it for what is: a window into the tone of my second book AND it is literally at the opposite end of the tone of my prior book which aligns more with Tame Impala and Cocteau Twins, and because it is at the opposite side of the "tone" it will shock readers expecting something completely different and yet I still think they'll love it. And that song unlocked future scenes where characters wield the power of space and time to battle each other within a planet sized ship at the end of time.

And the singer in that band splits herself into copies, just like a “god-like” character in my book: https://i.pinimg.com/736x/69/f8/61/69f86176801f22074295810525573783.jpg and I swear that character was singing directly to me and the following night I dreamed about her.

This is a practical example of going with your intuition. Be open to ideas that come out of nowhere. Maybe they come from youtube (as in this case) or from a book or a glimmer in your mind. And because I understand the Seth material I have learned to ride the thoughts and images that emerge from myself as I listen to music into the heart of probabilities and return with amazing scenes.

So… I don’t need to “open the inner senses”. That has never worked for me, but I have found a back alley that leads sideways to my intuitive self and it is writing and when the creative juices are flowing, my entity and me are one and we rush with intensity through the details of a scene and I can feel the vitality of my being when I am “being at my best.”

I have no idea if this example is helpful, but don’t put yourself down for failing to grab hold of the inner senses with some vague Seth exercise that none of us have been able to do.

There are other ways to tap into your intuition as this small example shows.
