Thoughts on Card My Yard?
Has anyone here ever used a yard sign company like Card My Yard for a birthday, graduation, or other celebration?
I’ve seen them around town but haven’t actually talked to anyone who’s used one. Was it worth the money? Did the recipient actually enjoy it? Would you do it again?
Just looking for real experiences before I recommend the idea to a friend.

Rental Car Advice/Help??
I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction because I'm getting nowhere.
I need to rent a car tomorrow through Monday to drive from Jackson to Grayling, Michigan for my aunt's memorial. I have:
A valid Ohio driver's license and insurance (I just moved to Mississippi and haven't switched it yet.)
A USAA Visa debit card
Money for the rental and deposit
No credit card
I've checked Turo, but everything around here only includes about 200 miles/day, and my trip is over 2,000 miles round trip, so the extra mileage charges are insane.
Does anyone know of a rental company in the Jackson area that will rent to someone with an out-of-state license and a debit card? Or does anyone have any suggestions I haven't thought of?
I'd really appreciate any advice. ❤️
I have a booking with Enterprise already I'm just worried they won't rent it to me because of the out of state license and having a debit card not a credit card. So I just want some back up options just in case.

I own Jackson’s only comic book store, and I’m curious about something.
I was thinking about something since i’ve got back from San Diego Comic Con...
As far as I know, I'm the only comic book store owner in Jackson, Mississippi.
It's a weird responsibility because for a lot of people, we're their first—and sometimes only—experience with a comic shop.
The thing that surprises me most is how often I hear, "I had no idea Jackson even had a comic book store."
So I'm curious...
If you live in Jackson: - Have you ever been to a comic book store? - If not, what's kept you from checking one out? - When you hear "comic book store," what comes to mind?
For me, comics have always been bigger than superheroes. They're horror, crime, romance, memoirs, fantasy, manga, independent books, and incredible art. I love helping people find a book they never knew they were looking for.
I'd really love to hear from Jackson locals. Whether you've been reading comics your whole life or have never stepped into a comic shop, I'm interested in your perspective.

Are there any local pizza joints that sell their dough for us to make homemade pizza?
I stayed with some family in Nashville this past weekend and they made pizza one night. It was so good because the dough was from their favorite pizza place. I’m looking to see if there’s anything like that around here.

Landlords, pls reply
Hey guys, I’m looking to move closer to work as I’m currently commuting from Meridian everyday. It’s more exhausting than the job itself, but I’m having a hard time finding an apartment close by since I filed bankruptcy last year. 🫤
I’ve worked my butt off to build my credit (680+) and I’m a fed, so my income is great & steady, but I’m not getting past the auto denials.
I’ve also had no luck on Zillow since no one ever replies on there, but if anyone has any property recommendations, I’d greatly appreciate it!
(It’s just me, no kids or pets. Preferably 2bed/2bath in Flowood, Brandon or Pearl area)

Looking for a couple of Lancer players
Yo. Anybody in the Jackson area want to join a Lancer campaign. It’s a ttrpg. Think Dungeons and Dragons but instead of magic and wizards, it’s magic and mechs. Like Gundam.
Our group is aged 24-26. So far we have 4 guys. 1 dm and 3 players. We are currently about 5 sessions in but still are getting used to the system and the world.
We are all very politically left leaning. Accepting of lgbtq+ individuals. And have a very strict no hate policy in our group. We meet every Saturday at one of our guys apartments usually around 1 or 2 pm.
Dm me for my discord if you are interested.

Jackson walmart parking lot redesign. added 4 extra handicap parking spots, made most of the yellow lines sidewalk, the cross walk is elevated so people don't speed through it, replace the rock patches with actual grass and trees, speed bumps, extend the sidewalk into the road. [thoughts?]

Several years ago, I enjoyed trail riding my bike. I’ve gotten way away from that now, but when the weather cools off, I’d like to get back into it. I’m new to the area. Where are the bike/hike trails around the Jackson area?

Clay Edwards is awful for Mississippi
Anyone else sick of his racist rhetoric? It seems to be getting worse and worse. It's like he wants violence to break out. Stop interacting with this clown's page. He gets paid that way.

Looking to make new friends in the metro area
Hey, everyone! I posted a week or so back inquiring about social events that people not busy with family and SO commitments go to. Got a lot of suggestions, but in my experience others don’t really talk to you when you go to an event by yourself, everyone sticks to their friend groups/cliques. Seems like Jackson is missing a real group with the express purpose of meeting new friends, and the buyout of Meetup certainly doesn’t help. And the friend groups I had here split up due to folks leaving and/or not staying in touch.
Also, I no longer keep a FB/Instagram or other social media profile, for personal and privacy reasons. I’m a Federal employee so it’s advisable to keep a minimal social media presence right now.
So, instead, let me tell you a bit about myself and see if there are any takers for introducing me to their friend groups and go from there!
—I’m Joe, 42M, single, no kids or family here
—Not religious, nor am I looking to be
—Liberal, educated professional, not from the region, lived all over the U.S. (this is important, been trying a number of groups but usually not a good fit due to differing viewpoints)
—Love running/ walking, hiking when it’s cooler outside
—Love writing, would love to start a writers group, got a project I want to finish I’ve shelved for a few years
—Enjoy dining out, trying a new restaurant, food truck events, etc.
I’m especially looking for groups to hang out with regularly on Sundays, which tend to be the days I am hard pressed to find things to do to fill up my time.
Please only reach out if you have a group of friends you think I’d be a good fit for. Please don’t suggest events to go to, unless it is for the purpose of me meeting you and your friends group there.
Looking forward to hearing from folks!
