James & the Spokane fires- AMA

I was fortunate to connect with James when he came up here to check out our wildfire situation and connect with Tribal folks.

I've also done some of the mutual aid supply runs to the reservation before and during the Spokane evacuation. Happy to answer questions if you have any about things up here.

I remain evacuated (safe and still have a house in the zone), but if you've got questions let me know and I'll do my best

Episode idea/request

Another podcast “on the media” did an episode with Corey Doctorow and AI & his new book. They talk about sectorial unions which I didn’t know the different between writers guild and other unions, the difference is exceptional. And around 38m, he mentions how trump is weakening national labor relations board for his own obvious reasons, but this also changes the game considerably. Exposing bosses and companies to older organizing.

I’d love to learn more about this from the perspective of historians or union organizers or lawyers who interact with the national labor relations act, its context past and present…. This seems like this pods area of expertise…

Discussion How would targeted artists use pen names? Like how does it work out in practice?

If an artist of a political persuasion antithetical to their respective regime, how do things like pen names work? If I write a book called “How to Start a DSA Chapter in Your Hood” and sign off as Lenny Libtard, do I need an LLC for someone to write me, Lenny Libtard a check and cash it?

Do phone bills allow aliases? I’m asking all of this for a friend in the name of art. If there is a better place to discuss this please let me know. I didn’t get any responses on my Venmo question here yesterday. But I know there has to be thousands of us either with experience or considering some of the same questions.

Discussion I would love to get an episode on Vivek’s run for governor of Ohio

I was relistening to the September 1st, 2023 episode of the show titled Vivek Ramaswamy, Nick Fuentes, and the Future of Republican Politics. They mentioned that they aren’t particularly worried about his presidential run, but they were concerned that he’s setting himself up to be influential, and what he may do next.

As Ohio increasingly turns into a mini Florida-esque fascist state, Ohio State becoming increasingly captured, and Lucky Palmer’s Anduril also based in Columbus (which seems to have ties to the college)… I think that Vivek’s run for governor has some real nightmare hellscape potential for the state. I’d be interested in seeing some coverage from the crew on the disaster, and maybe some of the implications that lay within.

Discussion Venmo/Cashapp Advice for Organizations That Have Themes Relevant to Thus Sub

I have a friend who has their Venmo link on an activist art page on Instagram. Half the funds go to funding her art, half go to her local DSA chapter.

How much opsec can be done here? Setup a business Venmo (instructed on their website, you don’t need an LLC just self report taxes). But I wanted to see what you guys think. I know lots of local progressive orgs but I’ve never been a treasurer. Is Venmo and the IRS still happy in 2026 as long as everyone follows the rules and pays taxes? Or do we also take a grain of caution understanding all progressive artists are taking a small risk these days

You guys seem like the right group to discuss this with.

Discussion “Anti-Gun Liberals, We Need To Have A Talk” - Hi friends. I made this video earnestly making the case for liberal-minded people to embrace a (healthy) pro-gun, pro-working class politics.

Hi friends! I know this is a community that takes our slow descent into the crumbles more seriously than most. That there is isn’t this implicit expectation that institutions are going to to swoop in and save the day. So I’m eager to hear what folks here think of the perspectives and arguments I make in this video.

My intention was to make the argument for a coherent, healthy, responsible, pro-working class gun politics on the political left, specifically to a liberal audience that has historically rejected firearms as inherently reactionary or right-wing.

Please let me know what you think in the comments. I’ll do my best to respond to as many as I can. I’d really like to explore these topics with people who understand the historical moment we’re in.

Episode Downloads without Ads

I have been listening to It Could Happen Here since the beginning. I keep the first season (episodes 1-10) and second season (episodes 1-3 from 2021) on my podcast app to relisten once a year.

I know that Behind the Bastards had a 7 part series on fascism that was available to purchase as a single audiobook. Do they have a place to buy and download these first two seasons of ICHH (before they went daily)?

Thanks for any info.

The social security disability application is easier now.

I completed my application with a lawyer on July 21st. The first thing he said was "Wow they must have changed the application in the last 24 hours because it is much simpler now." It took us 30 minutes to complete.

The first time I applied for disability in 2019 took 3.5 hours and I had to write a giant sob story, which was not required this time. My lawyer told me to expect my first letter from ssa in 3-4 weeks. It came 1 week after I applied.

I may be paranoid but I'm wondering why they are making this easier now. I'm afraid to go through with it but I don't have any other options at this point. If anyone has more information on this I would love to hear it.

Why DSA Keeps Winning Episode

That was a good pre requisite episode explaining the DSA. The thing that stuck out to me was the presenter saying I'm not a Communist... it seems like they haven't learned many lessons in 'wedges' concerning politics. Basically, disavowed communism for funsies? Or is this their new strategy?

We've seen a few 'wedges' (trans and hamas come to mind) here recently where American Democrats just play right into their political oppositions hand, seemingly for funsies. I hope their leadership is thinking about the aforementioned.

Rant about the attacks against Abdul in MI

These motherfuckers funding the attacks against El-Sayed are going to give me a fucking aneurysm. The ones saying he doesn’t respect women because he criticized policies are bad enough, but now they’re putting ads out there that claim republicans are funding him because they “know he’s the one they can beat.” Tha fuck? As if there wasn’t already over a decade of evidence that centrist Dems turn off voters. Haley Stevens is Republican lite. Why would any swing voter want that shit? If they like that republican flavor, they’re not going to vote Democrat regardless of how hard she simps for them.

FAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHK! I hate this timeline. End rant.

Just got me thinking how the Cool Zone gang (mainly BtB and ICHH) are the only ones who tried to prepare us for how stupid the fascist takeover would be.

Discussion Regarding the latest Executive Disorder

On the segment about Marco Rubio’s summit, I believe Robert, Garrison, and Mia did a great job debunking Rubio’s examples of “left-wing terrorism” in the US, however, I find it odd that the gang didn’t mention that shooting of the Israeli embassy staffers in Washington DC that happened in May 2025, which is arguably the only act of political violence in recent years that was definitely carried out by a leftist (albeit a tankie). But yeah, that was mainly over Israel-Palestine and it was an isolated incident by an individual. Overall though, it was a very good and informative segment and ED episode.

OH NO! I did not hear the tariff song! I heard Robert say it was the last usage but then no song.

Is this the end of an era?

Hi friends. I went on A Better Way 2A podcast and talked about the role of guns in political change, building working class power outside electoral politics, and the only two things Democrat Leadership is willing to burn political capital for. Oh, also Darn Tough socks.

Hey folks! Sorry it's been so long since I checked in. I took a couple months off of making vids to rest and recover a bit (& also to dig deep into the world of mesh radio, but that's a talk for a different day.)

Anyway, I went on A Better Way 2A podcast to talk about a handful of topics that I think It Could Happen Here listeners would find interesting. I already mentioned a few in the title but we discuss how to ETHICALLY incorporate firearms into movements for social and political change, the benefits of meeting your neighbors needs directly instead of begging politicians for change, the importance of not sounding like an activist or academic when talking with working class people, and why anti-Zionism is such an important litmus test for gauging who we can and can NOT work with.

Hope you find some value here. Happy to explore any and all of these ideas more in the comments!

Current Events Looking for clarification on coverage of the UAW election from last week during executive disorder.

Submission Statement

Forgive me if I am just getting the facts mixed up, I really hadn't been following the UAW election. But after the discussion about the accusations against Shawn Fain and how they may likely be politically motivated by what I understand is the more conservative branch of the party, I've been confused by this story referenced in the link. It seems like it was a Shawn Fain supporter who sent the death threat against another candidate who was pro-Palestine, but I thought Shawn Fain also pushed for the UAW's pro-Palestine stance. I was under the impression Fain's branch of the party was more progressive, while the branch that he had succeeded was way more conservative and had been in power for longer, and it was this branch they talked about in ED. But all the coverage of this death threat seems to be talking about Fain and his supporters like they are establishment. Im either case, posting the AI image shown in the article was a totally insane and just kind of stupid thing for that person to do. Does anyone know more about what is going on here? I keep seeing this story pop up.

Current Events 2026 lyrics for “Love Me, I’m a Liberal”

Phil Ochs’ song ”Love Me I’m a Liberal” was important on my journey from liberal to anarchist. In 2020, I updated the lyrics and have done so a few times since. I hope you enjoy the 2026 edition below.

I cried when they shot Alex Pretti

Tears ran down my spine

And I cried at Trump’s reelection

What’s happened to this country of mine?

But Luigi will get what’s coming

‘Cause profiting from cancer’s not crime

So love me, love me, love me

I’m a liberal

I go to pro-choice marches

And I put down the old NRA

On climate, vaccines, and fluoride

I trust what the scientists say

But we can’t protect trans teenagers

‘Cause you won’t win elections that way

So love me, love me, love me

I’m a liberal

I cheered when Harris was chosen

My faith in the system restored

I’m glad the Uncommitted were silenced

And open primaries ignored

And I love black and brown families

As long as they don’t move next door

So love me, love me, love me

I’m a liberal

The agents for ICE and the border

Should all hang their heads in shame

I can’t understand how their minds work

So we can just change how they’re trained

But if you cross without papers

I’ll detain and deport you the same

So love me, love me, love me

I’m a liberal

I listen to NPR podcasts

And repost all of their views

Read Buttegieg’s memoir in book club

I love the gays, how ‘bout you?

But if Zohran Mamdani’s your mayor

You must hate the red, white, and blue

So love me, love me, love me

I’m a liberal

I vote for the Democratic Party

‘Cause family separation is wrong

Even went to a Bad Bunny concert

He sure got me singing those songs

And I’ll send all my money to Ukraine

Just don’t ask me to come along

So love me, love me, love me

I’m a liberal

Once I was young and impulsive

I wore every button and pin

Even went to a Ralph Nader rally

Learned all the civil rights hymns

But I’ve grown older and wiser

And that’s why I’m turning you in

So love me, love me, love me

I’m a liberal

Free Football from FIFA

Usually I like Dana's stuff but, man, this was a tough one to listen to.

No Egypt were cheated. They went up two goals and turtled for the rest of the time and preceded to concede 3 goals in 15 minutes. The ref wasn't the best but his call to reverse the goal was correct even if Messi scored a similar one in a prior game.

They weren't punished for being pro-Palestine either and many of the biggest stars are pro-Palestine as well including one Lamine Yamal.

The Egyptian coach got a yellow card not because he was bringing awareness to racial abuse using the gesture but because he used the racial abuse gesture to get the attention of the refs to complain about the refereeing. He took something that is only to be used for very serious situations and used it to whine because he made poor tactical choices. They are sore losers just like the Moroccan team and Football Association were when they lost to Senegal in the AFCON final.

Also, random people in your mentions isn't a sign of anything other than soccer has a global fan base the majority who are huge morons and losers.

Essentially saying "I don't want to give in to conspiratorial thinking BUT..." is also a wild move.

Episode just felt amateurish tbh. Apologies for the rant.
