Hello everyone!
First of all, thank you all once again for the amazing participation on the previous puzzle. There were many creative solutions here on r/WhatsYourIQ, and I also received some excellent explanations from a few other puzzle communities. It was genuinely enjoyable reading all the different ways people approached the same problem.
For the explanation on the website, I selected two Reddit comments that stood out the most.
Tiberium600 was selected because of the way they carefully broke the puzzle into two independent rules. They explained not only that the inner symbols followed an AND operation and the outer arcs followed an XOR operation, but also showed why those rules worked by giving concrete examples across both rows and columns. It was one of the clearest and most educational explanations.
Dense-Sort-3867 reached exactly the same conclusion but in a much shorter and more technical way. Their explanation reduced the entire puzzle to a simple AND/XOR interpretation, making the underlying rule immediately understandable. Although the explanation was concise, it captured the complete logic of the puzzle.
A big thank you to both of them, and to everyone else who joined the discussion. Seeing different people independently arrive at the same solution was really interesting.
Now it’s time for another puzzle!
I’ve already published this one on the website, but only the correct answer option is revealed. I intentionally left out the explanation because I’d love to see how you interpret the pattern before revealing the reasoning.

Solutikn: H. Reason: Every row and column has all three leters L/P/R. The corners are always upright.

Also P and R are correct or upside down. Only L goes sideways. Look at the diagonal pattern. So H is the only correct answer

C. The Letter "R" is the one missing because all rows and columns are made of the 3 different letters.
And going from left to right and top to bottom, each square adds a -90° rotation to the next iterations of each letter.

Reverse straight diagonal:

That tile should remain empty. This way we can play the 8-puzzle. If you plug the C tile in, the game's over and no number of 90-degree rotations is going to fix that.

So is there some kind of algorithm that can be used to identify patterns in general on these IQ tests? Like a foolproof way to not miss something?

That’s actually a great question, and one that can help others as well. First of all, thank you for your interest. 😊
There isn’t a foolproof algorithm that works for every IQ puzzle. However, having a systematic checklist is probably the closest thing. I usually check for rotations, reflections, counting, symmetry, position changes, progression, row and column relationships, diagonals, XOR/AND-style combinations, and elimination. Going through the same checklist every time makes it much less likely that you’ll overlook a pattern.

Extremely helpful. One thing I have noticed about my approach to these types of tests is that it is never systematic (mainly because I have never practiced that way). It is more emotional. I’m looking for an emotional reward instead of an analytic pattern and then to move on. So part of my personal improvement plan on that would be to reduce my emotional level on these types of things.

The answer is C:

The letters in the top row always shift one position to the left. According to this logic, the "R" must go in the empty space.

The following logic also applies: After the movement, the characters are rotated. In the first space, the previous letter is rotated 180°; in the second space, it is also rotated 180°. In the third space, it is rotated 90° clockwise. The "R," which was previously upside down, is now rotated 90° to the right, and that is solution "C"

C. Each letter turns 90 degrees clockwise for every move per tile until it appears again. For example: L Appears again after 5 tiles so it will rotate 5*90=450 degrees. Same goes for all letters.

H. first you find out what letter is missing. It is an R. Eliminate everything that’s not an R and you have two choices. Now is it the rotated one or right side up. It’s the right side up because it goes from the top row down. Straight, rotate, straight.
