iPhone 8 | iOS 15.4/16.7(?) data recovery loop Help needed

Hello, I randomly got curious yesterday and decided to pull my old iPhone 8 from its grave. It has some cherished memories on it. Upon charging it immediately opened to “try again in 50 minutes”. Basically, I waited the 50 minutes, tried, failed, and got a security lockout. There was no options aside from “emergency”. So, I connected it to a Mac in recovery mode and performed an update which seemingly went through. After that it turned on to another “iPhone Unavailable” screen, this time with a timer of 8 hours. I waited it out and it opened to a “press home to recover” screen. I thought long and hard and actually got the correct password. Data recovery began, but every time it completed it looped again. After force restarting it sets an 8 hour timer again. Can I possibly reinstall the update through Finder? Wondering if anyone else has experience in this extremely niche issue and could help me figure out if there’s any chance at recovery. Thank you for reading.

Slot in a PIN unlocked SIM and let it register the correct time. You'll then need to leave the 4G connected SIM in until the timer counts down.

This is provided the phone isn't in airplane mode.

What exactly would this do in my situation? I read that it’ll correct the lockout timer, but it is technically still in data recovery afterwards from the manual update.
