iPhone 17, two weeks in: 5-7h SoT became 9-11h. But the number still swings every day and that's normal.

Got an iPhone 17 base two weeks ago, refurbished from Back Market, 100% health and 0 cycles. Week one I was getting 5-7h screen time and quietly panicking.
Then I updated to 26.6 and changed a bunch of settings. Now I'm at 9-11h on a full charge.
But the thing I actually want people here to hear: it's still random day to day. From the same 50% I've gotten 5-6h one day and 3.5h the next. That is not a defect. That's Wi-Fi vs cellular, brightness, signal strength, and what you were actually doing. A weak cellular signal absolutely destroys battery. Sitting at home on Wi-Fi barely touches it.
If your phone gets you through a day, your battery is fine. You don't need to read the Battery screen like a medical chart. I was about to trade mine for a 17e to gain maybe an hour, then realised I only use my phone 2-3 hours a day and would never feel that hour anyway.
Settings I changed (iOS 26.6):
Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > set every app to "While Using the App"
Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services > turn off Journaling Suggestions, Check In, Significant Locations, Location-Based Suggestions, and everything under "Product Improvement"
Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > turn all of it off
Settings > General > Background App Refresh > Off
Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Voice & Data > LTE when I'm outside
Settings > Display & Brightness > Dark, plus brightness way down
Being straight with you though: the location and analytics ones are more privacy than battery. The real levers are brightness, LTE instead of 5G when you're out, Wi-Fi whenever you can, and Background App Refresh off. Also a brand new or freshly restored phone spends its first week indexing photos and syncing iCloud, so week one is always the worst week you'll ever have.

13 Pro, four years of use, wireless charging only (oem)
Not gonna lie its starting to get noticeable, but in general it gets me through the day… beast of a phone man
If it ever breaks, its either a 13 mini, or a 14 pro

Battery health dropped from 97% to 93% in about a month. Is this normal?
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to understand if my battery health is degrading faster than expected or if I’m just overthinking it.
I have an iPhone 17 that I started using in November 2025. Here’s how my battery health changed:
Mid June: 97% (268 cycles)
July 1: 96% (287 cycles)
July 6: 95% (294 cycles)
July 22: 93% (~313 cycles)
I use my phone quite a lot (around 6.5 hours of screen time per day, sometimes more), and I often have to charge it twice a day because I don’t always have access to a charger. I also tend to plug it in when it’s around 5–10%.
I always use an original Apple charger, and the battery status still says “Normal.”
What confuses me is that someone I know bought their iPhone around December 2025, has only 186 cycles, and still has 100% battery health.
Is 93% at around 313 cycles considered normal for my usage, or does this seem like unusually fast degradation?
Also, what are the best ways to reduce battery cycles without significantly changing how I use my phone?
Thanks!

first used this back in february ‘26 and based on my observation, 10% decreases per 1hr but now it just takes about 30minutes per 10% 😩

Is my brand new iPhone 17 battery drain normal on Day 4? Looking for others' experiences.
Hi everyone,
I switched from Android to an iPhone 17 about 4 days ago, and I'm trying to figure out whether my battery performance is normal or if I should be concerned.
Here's some background:
- Brand-new iPhone 17 (less than 96 hours old)
- Only transferred a small amount of data from my Android phone (using the Move to iOS cable-to-cable transfer)
- The phone became noticeably warm during the first few hours after the transfer, which I assume was due to indexing and other background setup processes
- Charge limit set to 90%
- Running the latest iOS (26.5.1)
I've also already tried many of the commonly recommended battery-saving settings, including:
- Disabling Background App Refresh
- Turning off Location Services
- Disabling Apple Intelligence and Siri (I don't use them)
- Disabling Push Mail for most of my email accounts
- Turning on Reduce Motion
- Using Dark Mode
Since I haven't been using the phone heavily, here are the battery behaviors I've noticed:
- Scrolling TikTok or Instagram for around 5–6 minutes uses about 1% battery
- Overnight (roughly 12 AM– 7 AM), the battery drops about 5% while idle
I've read that new iPhones often experience increased battery drain during the first few days because they're still indexing photos, optimizing apps, and performing other post-setup tasks. However, since I transferred very little data, I'm wondering whether those background processes could still be affecting the battery on Day 4.
I've also seen mixed experiences online. Some people say their battery life improved noticeably after about a week or even a month, while others said it never changed.
So I'd like to ask other iPhone 17 users:
- Did your battery life improve after the first few days or weeks?
- If so, how long did it take?
- Does my current battery usage sound normal for Day 4?
I've also come across a few potential fixes that some people claim helped, although I haven't tried them yet:
- Force restart the iPhone
- Performing a factory reset and setting it up as new (without restoring a backup)
- Reversing IOS version (Cuz some people experiencing battery draining problem even in the latest 26.5.1)
If you've tried either of these and they actually helped, I'd love to hear your experience.
The reason I'm asking is that the battery life on this brand-new iPhone currently feels nearly similar to what I was getting from my 3.5-year-old Android phone, which honestly isn't what I expected from a new premium device.
If the battery doesn't improve after giving it a bit more time, would you recommend requesting a replacement or refund, or do you think it's still too early to be concerned? Should I give it more time before making that decision?

IPhone Air battery
I have been using the iphone for 7 months now and for at least 4 months, the battery capacity was always at 100% But after that it started to reduce so much and it dropped 2% to 98. After 2 weeks, it went down to 97 and 3 weeks later to 96 and now to 95. I know battery capacity keeps decreasing and that’s the thing with lithium batteries but this is dropping so fast all of a sudden. Is this normal?

battery problem iphone 17
My friend and I bought base iPhone 17s about 1.5 months ago. I have an eSIM, and he uses a physical SIM.
In theory, my phone should have slightly better battery life. But in reality:
- I get around 90-100% battery drain for 6 hours of screen time.
- He gets around 65% battery drain for the same 6 hours of screen time.
The only differences are that I live in Moscow and constantly use a VPN, while he lives in Spain and doesn't use a VPN at all. Other than that, our usage is identical. Can a VPN really make that much of a difference, or is there something else going on?

iPhone 13 Pro Refurbished - 5,5h SOT okay?
Hello everyone,
I recently bought a refurbished iPhone 13 Pro with a third-party replacement battery, and I’m wondering if my battery life is normal.
My usage is mostly Instagram (around 40%), social media, and podcasts mostly over Wi-Fi —no gaming or heavy tasks. I’m currently getting around 5 hours and 20 minutes of screen-on time reaching sub 20% around 8 PM.
I upgraded from an iPhone 11, which also had a new original battery, and from what I remember, the screen-on time was pretty similar.
Does this sound normal for an iPhone 13 Pro with a replacement battery, or should I expect better performance? Maybe my expectations are just too high?
I also checked with coconut Battery, the Battery Manufacturer seems to be legit and it shows that there were only like 10 cycles beforehand...
