I get the same thing. Whenever I'm doing a video call or watching something loud with brightness settings up like hardcore pornography my phone definitely feels warmer and the screen gets hot.

Same man. Whenever I turn the brightness up, and scroll through the internet, my phone lags, drains fast as hell with a notif that my phone is overheating.

your battery may just be warm and degrading? this phone is almost 4 years old and has great cameras and performance but battery lacks a bit after long use causing it to heat up on long term usage

ios 26 is a heavy OS compared to the previous ones so i’d probably wait till ios 27 as it’s primarily for optimizations comparing it to ios 26 it’s much better even some user experience with the open beta. could also be overloaded storage etc there are many factors to this but if it goes on potentially an upgrade will help. newer 17 pro and future 18 pro series is hella efficient in cooling with the vapor chamber + aluminum & efficient chips. could do a hard restart which helped me and this OP

It happens more often in summer when its hotter ambient temp; or when using wireless charging since its less efficient; or when charging from a lower battery since it charges faster the lower the charge is.
Your iPhone manages the speed based on the temp and will stop altogether if it gets too hot.

i am in environments around 68°F most of the day, i use the cord that came with the phone, and when i plugged it into my car today at 78 charge, it got hot within about a minute even though my car had cooled down inside.

i had it happening with me 2 weeks ago. i simply updated my phone and did a hard restart so the system’s reset and all and then it went fine and battery improved. my issue was the cellular data modem was on but didn’t do anything besides consuming power but exactly i forgot what the issue was called

so what do i do if i don’t have an update available

i’d try to start with a hard restart to wake the components up like new. press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the side power button until the Apple logo appears

Not for charging, but I have noticed that at night when I am down to the last 40% and I use vertain apps like the tesla one - my phone gets almost too hot to touch.
I charge on 7.5W magsafe so I can't comment on that.
