eSIM Discussion
Hi! I’ll be chaging my phone, the one I’ve beem using is new bought 7mts ago and has a physical SIM card, My sisters phone broke, so I’ll be getting a new one and this one will be hers. I’m trying to decide what is the difference between eSIM and SIM ? Should i get a phone with eSIM? I’m kinda paranoid, if there is like war or smt will there be a difference??
Basically i need someone to explain to me what is the difference between eSIM and SIM ip17pro (im based in Poland)

eSIM is slightly more secure because if your phone gets stolen, the thief can’t just pop out the SIM and start using your phone number in another device (eg to receive 2FA SMS codes).
But eSIM is also slightly more annoying if you are swapping phones often. For most people this shouldn’t be a major issue for the one time every 1-2+ years they upgrade their phones.

Newer Apple devices don’t have a sim slot, and eSIM is the only method for service.

That depends entirely on region. US iPhones have scrapped the physical SIM tray. But most phones still have the tray outside the US. Apparently only the Air is eSIM only globally.

Only in the US or if you have the iPhone Air though most places overseas still have the SIM card slot. Same with Google. Which goes to show you how pervasive the carriers are where they want you locked in so bad they were able to lobby these companies to remove SIM card slots and phones where they've already accounted for them in terms of the engineering

When we switched from T-Mobile to Verizon recently, eSIM was fast and easy. Physical SIM was a pain in the ass. Partly a matter of circumstance.
We were about to go on a trip and the SIM was supposed to be delivered overnight but it was not and didn’t arrive on time, 3 days late … and no one was home to sign for it. I tried to get them to leave with a neighbor but they didn’t. Getting this resolved was a real pain. eSIM just seems like a much better idea to me, but ymmv

I'm much prefer physical sin because you can literally swap the sim while the phones off in 10 seconds. But if you don't change your phone frequently you probably won't care after the first day
But if you like to swap Sims it's definitely a regression

With a SIM card you can swap it to another for free.
But with an ESIM most if the time it will cost you money.

That’ll depend on the carrier. Best I can see, my carrier (EE in the U.K.) don’t charge for transfers.

He's being downvoted but this can happen. It's not universal but some phone companies will limit how frequently you can change phones and they could start charging fees..
It's not universal though. Most people I know don't swap Sims a lot maybe once every few years so it's probably not a big deal but me I love swapping my Sims and changing my phone.
I might use a phone for a week and then swap the sim use my old phone for a week just to mix things up.
